Goldberg Claims WWE Had Asuka Beat His Streak On Purpose

Goldberg thinks WWE had “some girl” beat his WCW undefeated streak on purpose.
Goldberg made his name in WCW by destroying much of the roster with Jackhammers and Spears on his way to a 173-match win streak that lasted from his 1997 debut until December 1998, when he was controversially defeated by Kevin Nash with help from Scott Hall and a taser at Starrcade.
Almost two decades after Goldberg began his career in WCW, Asuka debuted in WWE as part of the NXT brand. The Japanese star embarked on her own winning streak that far surpassed Goldberg’s, lasting 914 days and achieving 267 victories before she was finally defeated by Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34.
Goldberg Claims WWE Has A “Bird In Their Ass” About His WCW Past
Speaking to Mike Burke on Real Talk, Goldberg was asked if a streak like his would ever happen again. The star pointed out that “some girl” (Asuka) had already done it and said it was something WWE did “on purpose.”
“They already did. Some girl at WWE. They did it on purpose. I have nothing against the girl, by any means, but yeah. The whole WWE experience…I was part of WCW when we were kicking their ass in the Monday Night Wars. I didn’t know what was going on at the time, I was just on one of the sides.”
According to Goldberg, WWE always had a problem with him, having come from WCW and been champion when the company was beating WWE in the ratings.
“Now, one side dissolves and the other one consumes everything, so they can treat everyone and everything the way they want. I think there is always going to be the bird in their ass that I was part of a company where I was the champion in a very short period of time and we were beating them in the ratings.”
