Dominik Mysterio To Defend WWE Intercontinental Championship Against AJ Styles At SummerSlam

It’s been made official: Dominik Mysterio will defend his WWE IC title against AJ Styles at SummerSlam after weeks of storyline buildup.

Styles has consistently been chasing Mysterio and confronting him in backstage segments over the past few weeks to pressure him into defending his Intercontinental Championship, but Mysterio has ducked the challenges from The Phenomenal One.

But last night on Raw, GM Adam Pearce made sure that Mysterio is medically clear and announced that Styles will challenge him for the IC Title at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

When Did Dominik Mysterio Last Defend His Intercontinental Championship?

Dominik Mysterio last defended his IC Title at Money in the Bank on June 7, when he faced Octagon Jr. Mysterio has only defended his title 3 times since winning it at WrestleMania, defeating Penta twice in his other defences.

In other IC Title news, the Women’s Intercontinental Title match got a new stipulation last night on Raw when current champ Becky Lynch proposed to challenger Lyra Valkyria that if she wins, Valkyria can never challenge for the championship for as long as Lynch holds it. Valkyria agreed, but only if Lynch agreed to make the match a no-count-out, no-DQ match, to which Lynch agreed.
