Backstage Reaction To AJ Lee’s In-Ring Return

WWE figures are said to be pleased with AJ Lee’s return to the ring at Wrestlepalooza.
AJ Lee made her WWE comeback on the September 5th edition of SmackDown, coming to the aid of her husband, CM Punk, as he was attacked by Becky Lynch. On the following episode of Raw, Lee laid down a challenge to Lynch and Seth Rollins for a tag team match against her and Punk.
At Wrestlepalooza, Lee got back in the ring for her first match in a decade. Lee hadn’t lost a step and took it to Lynch throughout the match, eventually forcing The Man to tap to the Black Widow.
AJ Lee “Did Really Well” In WWE In-Ring Return
According to a report from Fightful Select, WWE figures were positive about AJ Lee’s performance after so much time away. The report also noted that Lynch was praised for her performance, having helped other wrestlers through matches after time away.
“Those that we spoke to in WWE felt she did really well. Becky Lynch was heavily credited for her performance. One longtime WWE name said that Lynch has helped lead so many wrestlers through matches when they’ve taken long absences, and they feel she did well.”
On the Wrestlepalooza post-show, AJ Lee said the match felt amazing, but admitted wrestling hurts more than she remembered.
“The match? It felt amazing, it was really surreal. It’s been a minute. Everything hurts way more than I remember, but that was a lot of fun.“
