AJ Lee Set For First Match In Over 10 Years At WWE Wrestlepalooza

AJ Lee returned to Raw on Monday night and issued a challenge for her first match in over a decade.

After weeks of teasing, AJ Lee returned to WWE on the September 5th edition of SmackDown in Chicago. During the show, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch continued their rivalry with CM Punk, with Rollins vowing he was going to end the legend of the Voice of the Voiceless.

Punk went out to the ring to confront the pair as the crowd chanted for AJ Lee. An infuriated Lynch began slapping Punk before calling him an embarrassment to Chicago. The Second City Saint said he would never put his hands on a lady, but knows someone who will.

At that, Lee skipped to the ring and attacked Lynch before embracing her husband to close the show.

AJ Lee Lays Down Challenge To Becky Lynch & Seth Rollins On WWE Raw

On the September 8th episode of Raw, Lee introduced herself to the audience, claiming to be “your favourite wrestler’s favourite wrestler.” While she felt she had accomplished all her dreams and went on a journey to achieve other crazy dreams, seeing her husband, CM Punk, in the ring with Becky Lynch led to her return.

After Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins came out to the ring, Lee challenged them to a mixed tag match at Wrestlepalooza against her and Punk. While Rollins initially declined, an attempted sneak attack from CM Punk changed his mind, and he agreed to the bout, which WWE later made official.

The match will be the first for Lee since March 2015, when she teamed with Naomi and Paige to defeat Natalya and The Bella Twins on Raw. In her memoir, Lee revealed she retired due to both permanent damage to her cervical spine and feeling caught in the middle of WWE and CM Punk’s animosity after Punk walked out of the company in 2014.
