Evening Daily News Update: July 16, 2026

Good evening doomers, and welcome to your Evening Daily News Update for Thursday, July the 16th, 2026. It already feels like the dog days of summer and we’re only in mid-July. Anyway, lots of second-tier wrestling program tonight, with TNA Impact being the most important despite their status taking a hit with a series of roster losses in a short period. We also have WWE Main Event, ROH Honor Club, and JCW Lunacy for our entertainment, though some might find at least two of those a stretch.

It looks like Phred’s coverage of WWE Evolve is getting the spotlight on its own, unless something publishes in the next 3 hours. If you’re not familiar with Evolve, give it a read or check it out for yourself. Honestly, Nikkita Lyons has improved greatly. She’s not “LOL lost” the way she was for the first few years of her tenure.

Former WWE Superstar Siva Afi Passes Away at Age 77
Most fans might recognize him as Vince’s “We don’t need Jimmy Snuka” clone that debuted to a less-than-warm reception from the regular Poughkeepsie audience. Afi hung around in the prelims before being repacked as a 3rd Islander in the Spring of ’88, with the team thrown out once after about 2 months of mostly house show appearances as Tama quit the company and Haku was repackaged as the new King of the WWF. Check out a few matches on the YouTubes, including vs The Dynamite Kid, vs. Bret Hart, and the infamous return as the High Chief.

TNA Impact Preview:
I swear to God, if there’s a Contract Signing or Championship Celebration… I guess Mustafa Ali’s State of the Order 4 Address passes the test. The Knockouts TV Title Tournament continues, and Cedric Alexander defends the X-Division Title against Fabian Aichner, plus more action starting at 9pm ET on AMC.
