AAA Review – 06.13.26

AAA comes to Youtube from the Gimnasio Olimpico in Mexico City this week. The English-speaking commentators for tonight’s show are Corey Graves and John Bradshaw Layfield. We have three big matches scheduled for tonight, so let’s watch some lucha!

Then, Now, Forever…..TOGETHER

We have some arrivals and they include: Galeno del Mal and AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana.

Galeno del Mal vs Galio and The Golden Jacket

Galeno hits a double lariat to start before trucking Jacket and Galio down after a brief flurry. Galeno heaves Galio over the top rope onto the Jacket before powerbombing Jacket on the apron. Galeno waffles Galio into the ring post and then tosses Jacket back in. Galeno runs Galio back in and then starts mashing Jacket with lariats. Galeno hits an Exploder on Galio sending him into Jacket. Galeno hits a cannonball and then mashes Galio with a lariat. Galeno yanks Jacket into the center of the ring before ascending. Galeno hits a frog splash, tosses Galio on top of the mashed Jacket, and covers both guys for three.

Galeno is a straight wrecking machine and if you’re going to watch one huge luchador rampage on two tinier luchadores, this is your jamboroo right here. 2.5*

Here’s Omos chatting with Dorian Roldan who mentions Galeno just won another match. Omos seems unconcerned because he’s going to beat up three guys tonight apparently.

Los Vipers (Histeria, Taurus, and Abismo Negro Jr) vs Fiscal, Octagon, and La Parka

It’s Octagon and Taurus to start and Octagon rope walks into a rana before grabbing a wrist. Fiscal tags in and he and Octagon hit back elbows on Taurus. Fiscal slams Octagon onto Taurus and then covers Taurus for two. La Parka tags in and he clubbers away before tagging in Octagon. Octagon hits a torneo and then sends him flying with an armdrag. Abismo tags in as does Fiscal, but Abismo begs off and tags in Histeria. Fiscal hits a discus punch and tags in Parka, who dances a bunch in front of the newly-tagged in Taurus. Parka nails Taurus with an enziguri and a tilt-a-whirl armdrag. Parka hoists Taurus but Abismo has had enough and starts stomping away on Parka. Los Vipers hit a triple team loft-and-double-kicks-to-the-gut move before Histeria crushes La Parka with a rolling enziguri that gets two.

Abismo comes in and starts beating down Parka and the Vipers hit another triple team brainbuster on Parka before Taurus covers for two. Parka pulls Taurus into a facebuster and tags in Fiscal. Fiscal wrecks Histeria and Taurus and sends Histeria into Abismo. The two ancient enemies square off and start throwing bombs and Abismo takes over with chops. Fiscal snaps off a rana and crushes Abismo with a tope suicida. They fight in the aisle and it goes all the way to the back. Back in the ring Octagon catches Histeria with a forearm and then sends Taurus into Histeria. Parka hits a moonsault on Taurus. Octagon ascends and hits a moonsault fall-away slam on Histeria that finishes things.

With TripleMania coming, it’s good to see some Trios action and this was intense stuff. Abismo and Fiscal are going to literally fight forever, and Fiscal gathering two excellent workers in Parka and Octagon was a solid idea. I thought this was good solid action but just a notch below great. 3.5*

Winners – Fiscal/La Parka/Octagon (Octagon moonsault fall-away slam on Histeria)

Post-match sees some mini-Parkas come in to celebrate with Octagon and La Parka.

Omos vs Chris Carter, Daimo, and Kingu

Omos mashes everyone in a corner as JBL indicates to Graves he doesn’t care which jobber is which. Omos tosses everyone across the ring and then starts splashing everyone. Omos yanks up two of them onto his shoulders and drops them throat-first on the top rope. There’s a double goozle, two chokeslams, and he finishes the third jobber with a lofted powerbomb. Omos stacks everyone and sits on the pile for three.

Omos is called “El Gigante Omos” by the ring announcers in Mexico and it’s fair considering the height difference between him and these goofs. 1*

Winner – Omos (lofted powerbomb)

Las Toxicas lost at Noche de los Grandes as the team of La Catalina, Lola Vice, and Bayley was victorious. La Hiedra and Lola Vice will be in action next!

El Grande Americano returns next week, along with AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio. AAA GM Rey Mysterio will have a “massive announcement’ according to Graves.

AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship: Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana (C) vs La Hiedra and Joaquin Wilde

Mr. Iguana is accompanied by La Yesca as usual. Hiedra and Vice start and Vice snaps Hiedra down. Hiedra springs up and dumps Vice down for an ankle lock. Hiedra spanks Vice and Vice lifts a knee in response. Vice wants an armbar but Hiedra sneaks out of it. Vice hits a reverse thrust as Wilde tags in. Wilde dances in front of Vice and gets hit by La Yesca. Iguana runs into a high boot and a facebreaker from Wilde. Wilde fixes his hair and then works a side headlock on Iguana. Wilde lifts a knee but Iguana grabs an inside cradle for two.

Wilde snaps off a DDT and stomps on Iguana’s head. Wilde mounts Iguana on a top turnbuckle and ascends. Iguana pushes him off and Wilde springs up with a forearm. Wilde hits a rana and covers Iguana for two. Wilde lifts a knee several times and the stands on Iguana’s hand. Wilde throws some hooks in a corner and Iguana fires up with some rights and a huge headbutt. Hiedra kicks Iguana in the back and Wilde gets the same treatment from Vice. Iguana hits the SHINING LIZARD on Wilde as Hiedra comes over to fight with Vice. Vice gets a tag and hits a seated senton on Hiedra. Vice starts firing off her low kicks and knocks Hiedra down to a seated position. Iguana helps send Wilde down and they both hit Hip Attacks. Vice hits a belly to back suplex and covers Hiedra for two.

Vice hits a running kick but Hiedra waffles Vice with a spinebuster that gets two when she tries it again. Hiedra and Vice hit simultaneous hair drag takedowns and Iguana and Wilde get tags. Iguana hits a cross-body for two and then starts throwing chops. Wilde hits a superkick but misses a springboard moonsault. Iguana mashes Wilde with his springing twisting bulldog and that finishes things.

Las Toxicas losing streak continues! Someone will be paying for all these losses at some point, surely. Iguana and Vice are very over as babyfaces so working with a preening heel like Wilde is an easy night. Hiedra is a powerhouse and I’d like to see her and Vice tangle one on one at some point, maybe even in NXT. This was a fun match. 3*

Winners AND STILL AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions – Lola Vice and Mr Iguana (Iguana twisting bulldog on Wilde)

Hiedra re-enters after the match and screams at Iguana and Vice. Hiedra kicks Iguana down and Vice disposes of Wilde. Flammer and Lady Maravilla charge down to help out Hiedra, and here’s Bayley and La Catalina sprinting down to even up the numbers. Flammer is left alone with the babyfaces and she goes for it with Catalina who promptly superkicks her. Maravilla drags Flammer to safety before any more damage can occur. Everyone barks at everyone and I’m guessing we’re getting a rematch here at some point. The credits roll and we’re out.

Another fun show, as usual. Nothing really approached the great level tonight but the trios tag match was solid, and the main event was a good way to end things. No complaints with the best hour of wrestling during the entire week!
