AAA Review – 05.16.26

By Niz on 18 May 2026

Catch up NOW: Raw | NXT | Evolve | Impact | Smackdown

AAA comes to Youtube this week from Auditorio General Jose Maria Arteaga in Queretaro, Mexico. The American announce team consists of Corey Graves, John Bradshaw Layfield, and Raymond Stereo. It’s time for the best hour of weekly SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, so let’s watch some lucha libre!

Then, Now, Forever….TOGETHER

Arrivals: Galeno del Mal, La Parka with Mr. Iguana, and El Grande Americano Original with The Creed Brothers.

Fatal Four-Way: Tokyo Bad Boys (Nobu and Takuma) vs Money Machine (Colmillo del Plata and Garra de Oro) vs Mr. Iguana and La Parka vs NGD (Forastero and Sanson)

JBL puts over becoming the next AAA GM, which will be announced next week, and feels good about his chances due to his tutoring in Spanish from El Grande Americano Original. It’s Oro and Sanson to start and Sanson takes control with an armlock into a shoulder tackle and running senton. Sanson covers and gets two. Forastero tags in and puts the boots to Oro before hoisting him up. Oro manages to tag in Plata on the sly and he hits a huge cross-body on Forastero. Sanson yanks Plata down from the apron and then Plata walks into a Forastero superkick. Forastero beats Plata down but then gets tagged by Takuma. Takuma flies in to wipe out Plata and then tags in Nobu. Nobu and Takuma slam Plata into a corner and then hit a double hip toss as Nobu covers Plata for two. Takuma tags back in and grabs a side headlock. Plata reverses and Iguana grabs a tag. Iguana snaps off a rana and then plants Takuma with a crucifix driver. Parka tags in and hits a lofted facebreaker, a backbreaker, and a dropkick right to Takuma’s mug. Parka gets interfered with by Nobu and that allows Takuma to plant Parka with a tornado DDT. NGD break up the cover at two.

NGD wipe out just about everyone and go to work on Takuma. Takuma gets dumped and Parka charges in for a beatdown as well. NGD work Parka over and then smash him with a double suplex. Plata grabs a tag and he and Oro charge in to dump NGD to the floor. Oro and Plata hit a tope suicida and a moonsault on NGD on the floor. Oro and Plata charge in to smash Forastero with a cross-body that gets two. Plata and Forastero slug it out and Takuma gets a tag. Everyone hits big moves, and La Yesca enters to take on Takuma. Iguana covers Takuma for two, but Takuma fires up and drops Iguana with a brainbuster that gets two. JBL: “I’d like to cook La Yesca.” Graves: “Do they have a name for what’s wrong with you?” Nobu has La Yesca and spanks Iguana with him. Iguana gets La Yesca back and he hits the Iguana rana on Forastero for two. Iguana hits another rana on the floor while Parka hits a springboard cross-body that takes down Forastero. Parka hits The Bonebreaker on Forastero and covers him for three.

It got very chaotic by the end but this was pretty much what you’d expect for a fatal fourway lucha tag match. It wasn’t always pretty and everyone might have worked slightly too fast in the second act but we got to where we needed to be. 2.5*

Winners – La Parka and Mr. Iguana (La Parka Bonebreaker on Forastero)

Post-match sees Parka and Iguana head back up the ramp, but the horns of war sound and here are The War Raiders out to smash all the remaining tag teams around. Everyone catches big moves from Erik and Ivar who get a huge pop after the destruction ends. They’ll take on Pagano and Psycho Clown for the AAA Tag Team championships in two weeks at Noche de los Grandes.

Here’s Dorian Roldan outside of Marisela Pena’s office when Texano Jr. pops out to say that he’s discussing the AAA GM role with Roldan’s mother. Roldan says he’s meant to be the next GM and Texano tells him to calm down and relax before Pena hears him out here crying.

Triplemania will be held over two nights in September, and the Friday night location will be announced soon.

Highlights are shown of the big Cruiserweight title match between Rey Fenix and Laredo Kid. Post-match, we’re shown that Fenix approached Laredo in the parking lot to remind him that the fans thought their match was awesome. Laredo says that Fenix is jealous of him holding a title and he’s also jealous of Penta holding the Intercontinental title. Fenix denies this and wants another shot, which will happen next week in Mexico City!

Chris Carter and Drago vs Galeno del Mal

Galeno is 285 pounds, and I’m not sure that Carter and Drago COMBINE to weigh that much, so let’s see how this goes. They start by clubbering away at the bell, but Galeno drops them both with lariats. Carter gets tossed into a corner and then to the floor, before Galeno crushes Drago with a facebuster and a high boot. Galeno yanks Drago up and tosses him over the top rope onto Carter. Galeno goes to the floor and tosses both guys back in. Galeno stacks them in opposite corners and then sends Drago to the floor with a mid-air punch. Galeno takes Carter’s head off with another lariat and then smashes him with a running senton. Here’s Omos out to keep an eye on things. Galeno catches a Drago dive and smashes him with the Galeno Special. Galeno stacks Carter on top of Drago and covers both of them for three.

THAT’S HOW YOU STOMP GRAPES, GALENO! 2*

Winner – Galeno (general mauling of jobbers)

Post-match sees an irate Galeno inviting the passive Omos down for a fight before accepting the duke from the referee.

We see some highlights of the confrontation between Las Toxicas and La Catalina from last week, before Lola Vice and Bayley showed up to help even the odds. Catalina thanked Bayley and Vice afterwards, and called for a six woman tag match at Noche de los Grandes, which is now official!

Here’s Dorian Roldan still holding vigil outside his mother’s office, but this time Cibernetico emerges and mentions that he’s just had a chat about the GM position. Roldan is predictably unhappy about this.

The Creed Brothers (Brutus and Julius) vs Aerostar and El Fiscal

Rey Mysterio puts over Fiscal and how much he reminds Rey of Fiscal’s father, the original Abismo Negro. Julius clubbers away on Fiscal and then tags in Brutus. Brutus misses a charge and eats a Fiscal roundhouse and a bunch of elbows. Aerostar tags in and he and Fiscal pound away on Brutus. Fiscal hits a spinebuster and then hoists Aerostar up to press slam him on Brutus. Aerostar’s cover gets two. Aerostar hits a rana that sends Brutus to the floor, and then Julius charges in to drop Aerostar with a gnarly looking German. Aerostar hits a flying back elbow and then wants to fly, but the Creeds catch him and smash him back-first on the apron. Fiscal charges over to see how Aerostar is and gets immediately trucked by Brutus. The Creeds smash Aerostar around and Brutus tosses him back in for a cross-face right hand. Julius tags in and wipes out Aerostar with a lariat that gets two.

Julius smashes Fiscal off the apron and puts a torque on Aerostar’s head. Julius tries a quick roll up and get two, and then he double-legs Aerostar before tagging in Brutus. Brutus brutalizes Aerostar and clubbers away at his back. Julius tags back in and he and Brutus dump Aerostar into his corner. Fiscal tags in and he runs wild for a bit before nailing both Creeds with a reverse cross-body. Fiscal wants El Martinete, but Julius saves Brutus and they go to the floor. Aerostar hits a reverse cannonball on both Creeds and they try to escape the flurry by going back in the ring. Brutus and Julius fire up and smash Aerostar with a powerbomb before Julius slaps on the ankle lock. Aerostar taps immediately.

This was really just an exhibition for the Creeds to get to the post-match stuff, but Aerostar and Fiscal were game opponents. Aerostar was a bit botchy, but it didn’t hurt the match too much. This was fun! 3*

Winners – The Creed Brothers (Julius ankle lock on Aerostar)

Post-match sees the assault continue and Fiscal is sent to the floor while Julius continues holding the ankle lock on Aerostar. Los Americanos charge out to start battling with the Creeds. Los Americanos are running things, but here’s El Grande Americano Original down to overwhelm everyone with the numbers game. Grande puts the boots to Bravo and it appears the Creeds are going to try to take Bravo’s mask. Just before they can get it off, El Grande Americano Nuevo shows up but he can’t hit Original due to the no physicality rule. Of course, that doesn’t mean that he can’t attack the Creeds, so he does that and the Nuevo-Los Americanos team ends up standing tall. Nuevo grabs a mic and tells “Shorty” to listen to him closely. Nuevo reminds Original that they aren’t in America and Queretaro is HIS HOUSE. Nuevo vows that the upcoming match is not just about the masks, it’s for Mexican pride. Nuevo tells Original to listen closely, and says he’s going to bury the mask and Original because there’s only ONE EL GRANDE AMERICANO.

That was quite a show-closing promo from Nuevo. This match has so much heat right now it’s just off the charts. That doesn’t stop Michael Cole from treating the whole thing like a joke (and probably will on Raw as well – if you missed it there will be a six man tag on tonight’s show!) but we hope for the best whenever these guys aren’t on AAA. You could tell this was the end of the taping, the crowd was a little burnt and only really popped for cameos and entrances. It was still a pretty fun hour overall.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Enjoy your Monday.
