AAA Review – 02.21.26

By Niz on 22 February 2026

AAA on Fox comes to Youtube from Auditorio General Jose Maria Arteaga in Santiago de Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico.

The presenters of tonight’s show are Corey Graves, Rey Mysterio and JBL on match calls and analysis, and Jose Zuniga on ring announcements.

Arrivals include AAA Mega Campeon Dominik Mysterio, El Hijo Del Vikingo flanked by Dorian Roldan and Omos, and AAA Latin American Campeon El Hijo Del Dr. Wagner Jr.

AAA Latin American Championship: El Hijo Del Dr. Wagner Jr. (C) vs Belcegor

Wagner addresses the crowd prior to the match and says he knows there’s someone behind the screen who really wants to fight for the title this evening. Belcegor answers the challenge and Rey Mysterio says he’s sure that Belcegor is ready to go. Belcegor chops away to start and Wagner responds in kind with forearms and chops. Belcegor hits a dropkick and then smashes Wagner with a lariat. Belcegor yanks Wagner up for a draping neckbreaker and then puts the boots to Wagner. Wagner rises in anger and catches Belcegor’s kick attempt. Wagner comes off the ropes with a headbutt and follows with a lariat. Wagner goes to work with a big step up knee and a Death Valley Driver that gets two. Wagner crushes Belcegor with a discus lariat and then hoists him for a twisting sit out powerbomb. Wagner’s subsequent cover gets three.

Wagner managed to fight off Belcegor’s power offense very effectively and relatively quickly. Wagner is and was wildly over with the Querataro audience and he made short work of his open challenge dance partner. 2.5*

Winner AND STILL AAA Latin American Champion – El Hijo Del Dr. Wagner Jr. (Twisting Sit-Out Powerbomb)

Post-match sees Wagner grab a mic to call out Santos Escobar to come to the ring if he’s in the building. Santos Escobar appears on the video board and says the confrontation will happen but it will be on his terms and when he’s ready. Wagner gets one more huge hand from the appreciative crowd before leaving.

AAA Cruiserweight Championship: Laredo Kid (C) vs TJ Perkins

Laredo has held his title for 441 days. TJP hits an armdrag and rolls Kid over into a surfboard. Kid escapes and there’s a quick standoff. TJP ignores a handshake attempt and gets dumped to the floor by a Kid headscissor. TJP trips up Kid and he goes headfirst into the ring apron. TJP eats a Kid right hand and Kid ascends. TJP catches Kid’s dive with a dropkick and goes to work with ground and pound. TJP works Kid over in a corner and puts the boots to Kid’s face. TJP hits a running boot to the jaw and then yanks Kid up for a backbreaker that gets two. TJP works a rear chinlock before dumping Kid into a corner. Kid fights off a charge with a high boot and a big right hand. Kid ascends and hits a missile dropkick on a charging TJP. Kid hits a tope suicida and daps up the crowd. Kid dumps TJP back in and smashes TJP in a corner with a huge running forearm. Kid ascends and TJP trips him over and down. TJP misses a Mamba splash attempt and then rolls up Kid with a hand on the ropes. The ref sees this and breaks up the count, so TJP grabs a victory roll in response. Kid rolls it backwards and gets a three count with a handful of tights AND TJP’s hand on the ropes.

A controversial finish to be sure, but a really fun sprint in the run up to it. TJP looked sharp and worked well with Laredo, who used some shenanigans of his own to retain his title. Given what happens in the post-match, I expect we’ll see a rematch down the road. Good work by both competitors here. 3*

Winner AND STILL AAA Cruiserweight Champion – Laredo Kid (Roll up)

Post-match sees TJP confront the referee who tells him he didn’t see TJP’s hand on the ropes. Kid offers a handshake which TJP ignores, and then TJP attacks Kid from behind as he was leaving the ring. TJP runs Kid into the ring steps and then mounts him on the bottom portion of the steps. TJP fires some right hands into Kid’s head and then grabs the title belt. TJP smashes Kid in the face with the title and then crushes Kid down into the steps with a boot to the back. TJP exits to a chorus of jeers from the crowd.

Abismo Negro vs El Fiscal

Abismo and Fiscal have a heated rivalry, to say the least. They start immediately by slugging it out mid-ring. Fiscal hits a reverse thrust kick and goes to the floor with Abismo. Abismo runs Fiscal into the steps and Fiscal responds in kind. Fiscal clears the announce table and rams Abismo’s head into it before firing a bunch of rights at Abismo’s head. The ref calls for a DQ after Fiscal shoves him away. Fiscal continues to work over Abismo on the table as a bunch of Security pours out from the back. Fiscal yanks up Abismo who’s saved by the referees. Absimo sweeps the leg to send Fiscal down on the table. Fiscal shakes off the Security guys and flies over the top rope to continue attacking Abismo. They fight up the ramp and then back down to ringside. Fiscal ends up back in the ring and wants Abismo to return, but he leaves and Fiscal is left on his own in the ring. Fiscal gets a chant from the crowd so he gives them his pose.

The crowd ate this up, as expected. Nothing to really rate here as it never actually got going in a formal way, but this was an intense bit of business to presumably set up a major match for Rey de Reyes down the road.

No Winner – Fiscal DQ’d for shoving the referee

El Hijo Del Dr. Wagner Jr gets attacked in the parking lot area by Santos Escobar who warns Wagner to be careful what he wishes for in terms of the “anytime, anywhere” chatter he’s been using. Escobar climbs on his motorcycle and leaves. Graves runs down the card for next week and the current card for Rey de Reyes.

Jose Zuniga welcomes El Hijo Del Vikingo to the ring for the contract signing. Vikingo is seconded by Dorian Roldan and Omos, as always. Zuniga then calls out AAA Mega Campeon Dominik Mysterio who makes his way into the ring while eyeing up Omos warily. Roldan grabs a mic and talks about Vikingo wanting something as a stipulation above and beyond the title being on the line. Mysterio promises to be the champion for a long time and will be synonymous with the belt. Mysterio says when he beats Vikingo again Vikingo will never be able to challenge for the title again as long as Mysterio has the championship. Vikingo tells Mysterio to listen carefully because he only needs one opportunity to humiliate Mysterio in his house in Puebla. Vikingo says when he wins Mysterio must leave AAA forever. Vikingo says that the match at Rey de Reyes will be a No DQ match before signing the contract. Mysterio signs to Vikingo’s delight as Vikingo calls him an idiot. Vikingo calls for a video to play where he’s dressed as a doctor and promises that Mysterio will be the next person he puts in the hospital. Vikingo enters a room where Mini Vikingo is in a bed wearing a neck collar. Vikingo starts smashing Mini Vikingo and then dumps him to the floor. Mini Vikingo is covered by the mattress as the video ends with Vikingo declaring Mysterio will be next in the bed. Mysterio says Vikingo beat up a 12 year old and tells Vikingo they don’t have to wait for Puebla. Omos steps in front of Vikingo and here’s El Grande Americano 2 with a chair. EGA2 smashes Omos with the chair to zero effect. Omos turns and EGA2 beats it out of the ring quickly to stand next to Mysterio. Here’s the Original El Grande Americano to wallop EGA2 from behind as Mysterio looks on impassively. EGA holds two fingers aloft as he stands over the fallen EGA2.

A fun show this week with the Wagner Jr and Laredo Kid defenses, and the brawl between Fiscal and Abismo. The main event contract signing set up some wild stakes for the Mega Championship match, and continued the ongoing feud between the Americanos. Lots of moving parts tonight but a solid hour overall.

Thanks for reading and commenting. I’m not sure if I’ll be doing this permanently but I know there’s been chatter about having a recap of this show and since I’m in the path of this snow storm, I figured I’d do it and get something up for this week. We’ll see what happens moving forward. Enjoy your Sunday.
