AEW Collision Review – 11.19.25

Here’s what happened in the first two hours of this show: Dynamite

This is the third hour of a three hour block of AEW from Wednesday night, and it emanates from the Agganis Arena in Boston, MA. The announcers for this show are Excalibur, Bryan Danielson and Tony Schiavone on match calls and analysis, Justin Roberts and Bobby Cruise on ring announcements, and Renee Paquette and Alicia Atout on backstage interviews and breaking news.

I miss the Kangaroo Kick, and I bet you do too.

Assuming you read the Dynamite rant linked above, you know now that Dynamite ended during the Hangman Page-Katsuyori Shibata match. Collision begins with Page going low on Shibata after being recognized as the winner of the match, given Shibata’s repeated use of that maneuver during the actual match. Page and Samoa Joe, who was on commentary, glare at each other and Page gets a microphone. Page tells Joe to look around because even though he’s surrounded by thousands of fans and the commentary team, he’s now alone. Page says when Joe comes into the cage at Full Gear he won’t have Hobbs, because he’s at the hospital and Joe won’t have Shibata because Page sent him to [bleeped but probably a nads related joke]. Page mentions what he did the last time he was in a steel cage with another man because he’ll do it again if Joe forces him to.

FTR and Stokely are backstage and Stokely questions whether or not Brodido will do anything that anyone will remember in nine years. Cash Wheeler promises to end the “feel good story” of the year. Dax Harwood gives FTR’s resume of championships, but says that Full Gear means just a bit more.

AEW Women’s Tag Team Tournament Quarterfinal: Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir vs TayJay (Tay Melo and Anna Jay)

Penelope Ford is seconding the heels. Shafir starts with Melo and they toss each other around with judo throws for a minute. I bet this would make for a hell of a shoot, actually, given their respective histories. Jay tags in and she and Melo hit a double-team back suplex. Bayne charges in and gets dumped, and they all start fighting on the floor as the “referee leniency” portion of the show starts. Jay and Melo go up on the barrier and both hit cross-bodies on the heels. Shafir gets run back in and she recovers to smash both Jay and Melo before Bayne tags in. We go to commercials.

Melo gets a tag when the show returns and runs wild for a minute before tagging Jay back in. They hit stereo high knees on Bayne and Shafir and drop them both with back suplexes. Bayne and Shafir respond with a double team backdrop suplex on Jay and Bayne’s cover of Jay is broken up at two by Melo. Melo hits a big knee and Jay snaps off a neckbreaker before covering Bayne for two. Jay puts the Queenslayer on Bayne, but Bayne works back to her corner where Shafir tags in. Shafir puts the Mother’s Milk on Jay who gives up immediately.

The finish came out of nowhere. Like legit, completely out of nowhere. I know Mother’s Milk is apparently a very protected move at this point but Jay gave up in like one second. It seemed like Dynamite maybe running slightly long caused this to be a bit compressed, but who can tell. Anyway, you didn’t miss a thing here. 1.5*

Winners – Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir (Mother’s Milk on Jay)

Post-match sees Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa pop up on the video screen to pitch potential stipulations for the semi-finals including a Taipei Death match. Storm promises to even scare Jon Moxley with the level of violence they intend to bring. Bayne and Shafir seem unimpressed before leaving.

AEW Women’s Champion Kris Statlander cuts a pre-taped promo regarding Mercedes Mone and the big title match at Full Gear. We go to commercials.

Austin Gunn and Juice Robinson talk about the Tailgate four-way with the $200K prize. Robinson has all kinds of plans for the money and says they will be happy pigs in shit when they win.

Double Jeopardy Match: Mascara Dorada vs AEW United Champion Kazuchika Okada

Okada is seconded by Don Callis and Hechicero. Apparently if Okada wins the DCF will get a shot at the CMLL Trios titles, and the team holding those includes Dorada. There’s a feeling out process to start and Okada gets the advantage before some acrobatics break out. Dorada botches his corner rope-assisted armdrag but Okada sells it anyway before bailing to the floor. Okada keeps breaking the ref count but continues to stall. Dorada has had enough so he comes to the floor, and Okada takes immediate advantage by running him into the barrier. Okada goes back in and Dorada recovers with a flying armdrag and a tope suicida after Okada bails again. Dorada ascends but misses whatever he was trying to do, and Okada waffles him with a dropkick as we go to commercials.

Okada is on the apron and Dorada hits an enziguri on him before ascending. Dorada slips off the top turnbuckle and damn near kills Okada with a rough looking DDT on the apron. Dorada hits a monkey flip and then botches another move meant to be a springboard rana. Dorada hits a torneo and then celebrates with the crowd. Dorada hits a running neckbreaker and a rana on the floor. Dorada runs Okada back in and ascends but Okada moves before Dorada’s 450 can hit. Okada hits a neckbreaker and a bodyslam before ascending. Okada drops an elbow and then shoots the crowd the middle finger salute. Okada hits a beautiful dropkick but Dorada manages a quick roll up for two. Dorada hits another enziguri and then ascends and actually hits the 450 before covering for two.

Dorada mounts Okada on a turnbuckle and then botches what I think was meant to be a springboard rana. Dorada rolls up Okada for two, and then eats an immediate dropkick. Okada hits a Michinoku driver and the Rainmaker. Okada’s subsequent cover gets three.

Dorada had a REALLY bad outing here. Maybe there were some nerves, it’s hard to know, but Okada is VERY lucky he didn’t get hurt. Even Danielson on commentary mentioned he’d never seen Dorada mess up this much, so you can tell it was rough. Also, this outcome, along with the rest of this entire show, was never in doubt for one solitary second. 2.5* is generous here but we’ll go with it because Okada’s portion of things went extremely well, so the difference is split.

Winner – Kazuchika Okada (Rainmaker)

Post-match sees Callis grab a mic to announce that his team for the Trios title match will be Okada, Hechicero, and a returning IWGP Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita. Okada seems less than enthused at this news. Callis and Hechicero join him in the ring and assure him everything will be okay.

Renee Paquette is with The Sisters of Sin who promise to win the four way tag match at Full Gear, and Thekla promises to come up with some “sick twisted shit” when they do.

Kris Statlander makes her way to the ring to join commentary as we go to commercials.

ROH Women’s Television Championship: Red Velvet (C) vs Mercedes Mone (Interim)

Bobby Cruise does the ring announcements for this, and I wish he got to do more AEW work. Mone gets a nice hometown pop as you would expect. They bark at each other prior to the match starting and Mone rolls Velvet around a bit after the bell rings. They exchange armdrags and Velvet wags a finger in Mone’s face. Mone yanks Velvet down by the hair but Velvet recovers and smashes Mone with a kick to the gut. Velvet puts the boots to Mone in a corner and then misses a charge. Mone dropkicks Velvet to the floor and then hits a Meteora before picking up the title belts and showing them off to Statlander. Velvet fires up and Mone runs her into Statlander who tumbles to the floor. Statlander confronts the ref as Velvet takes one of the title belts and tosses it to Mone before faking getting smashed with it. Aubrey Edwards turns and sees this as Velvet grabs a quick roll up for two. We go to commercials.

Mone is working a rear chin lock when we return. Velvet fires up and hits a body press for two. Velvet hits her own Meteora and covers Mone for two. Mone slaps on the Mone Maker but Velvet breaks out of it and rolls up Mone for two. Velvet puts on a reverse short arm scissors and Mone flips over and gets a two count. They slug it out and Mone wallops Velvet with a kick. Mone misses a charge and Velvet waffles her with a release German. Velvet hits an enziguri and covers for two. Velvet puts on an Octopus but Mone breaks out and drops Velvet with a Lungblower before covering and getting two. Velvet hits a 360 roll up and covers Mone for two. Velvet hits a flying head scissor and then mounts Mone on a turnbuckle. They slug it out as Mone grabs Velvet and hits a top rope lungblower. Mone’s cover gets three.

Yet another match with an easily predictable outcome. Listen, I’m not saying matches like that can’t be good or whatever, but this entire three hour block had almost no suspense whatsoever, and it hurts the product. This was kind of a styles clash but given it was Velvet’s first match in months, I wasn’t surprised it was kind of rough in spots. 3*

Winner AND NEW ROH Women’s Television Champion – Mercedes Mone (Top rope Lungblower)

Post-match sees Mone and Statlander start fighting. Mone puts on the Mone Maker and leaves Statlander in a heap before standing on the announce desk while holding the world title aloft. Statlander agrees to leave and carries Velvet to the back as Mone still has the belt.

Collision ending with a Mone match in Boston was a good choice as the crowd was at least into seeing her. The Okada-Dorada match was rough, and the women’s tag match had one of the more abrupt endings that I’ve seen in awhile. We’ll be generous and give it thumbs in the middle but you could easily skip this hour and be just fine.
