AEW Collision Review – 11.01.25

Tonight’s Collision was taped directly after Dynamite on 10.29.2025 at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, TX. Your television presenters are Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness on match calls and analysis, Arkady Aura on ring introductions, and Renee Paquette on backstage interviews and breaking news segments. We’re three weeks away from Full Gear and the Collision card looks to be decent tonight as compared to last week‘s…event.

IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita and AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada vs Anthony Bowens and Max Caster

So the story here is that Bowens and Caster don’t like each other in a comedic way, and Okada and Takeshita don’t like each other in a “we’re gonna try to murder each other some day” way. Takeshita starts with Bowens and a chop battle breaks out. Takeshita hits a running forearm but Bowens responds with a crucifix driver. Caster tags in and Okada interferes to keep Caster from hitting anything offensive. Bowens charges in and both DCF guys end up on the floor where Caster hits a double cross-body. Okada and Takeshita recover as Bowens and Caster bicker, and manage to snap off DDT’s on both of them. Okada tags himself in starts working over Caster with a big flying elbow. Okada shoots the bird at Takeshita and Caster rolls him up for one. Okada hits a walking back neckbreaker and covers Caster for two. Okada and Takeshita continue to bicker as Bowens finally tags in. Bowens takes on both guys for a second before Okada wallops him with a release front facebreaker. We go to commercials.

Bowens smashes Okada with some forearms when the show returns, so Takeshita tags in. Caster tags in and hits a quick flurry on Takeshita that ends with a side Russian leg sweep. Caster hits a side Falcon Arrow and covers Takeshita for two. Caster tags Bowens and drags him into the ring but their first attempt at a double team does not work. Bowens does manage to crush Takeshita with a big knee but Okada breaks up the cover at two. Okada drags Takeshita over and tags in. Bowens drops Okada with a cobra clutch neckbreaker and then ascends. Okada revives and wants a superplex so Takeshita wanders in and hits a giant plex on both Okada and Bowens. Caster charges in and he and Takeshita duke it out on the floor. Okada and Bowens slug it out and Okada misses a dropkick. Bowens hits his weird spinning faceplant thing and covers Okada for two. Takeshita sneaks in and hits Bowens with a Blue Thunder Bomb, but some miscommunication allows Bowens to recover for a moment. Caster causes confusion with a blind tag that disallows a Bowens pin attempt on Okada. Bowens and Caster come to blows and it leads to Takeshita hitting the Raging Fire and covering Caster for three.

This was fine for what it was, albeit with a wildly predictable outcome. The constant miscommunication and blind tags worked well to tell the story that these are two teams in name only. At some point, they have to get to the fireworks factory with these storylines, though. 3*

Winners – Okada/Takeshita (Takeshita Raging Fire on Caster)

Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale cut a promo on Mercedes Mone and Athena. They plan to keep smiling no matter what and they know they’re the underdogs in the tournament. Cameron says it’s a matter of when, not if, they get the 1-2-3 on Dynamite.

Highlights are shown of Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa‘s new tag team and how it came to be.

AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander joins the commentary table prior to the next match.

CMLL Women’s World Championship: Mercedes Mone (C) vs Olympia

Olympia squashed Taya Valkyrie on last week‘s Collision and then threw out the challenge for this match. They exchanges roll ups for two, and then Olympia hits an O’Connor roll for two. Olympia trucks Mone and then hits a bronco buster. Olympia hoists Mone, but she escapes and hits a big boot on Olympia. Olympia shakes that off and presses Mone before dumping her down. Mercedes fires up with some knees and then hits a Meteora from the apron to the floor. We go to commercials.

Olympia hits a sitout driver for two when the show returns. Olympia hits a dropkick and a skin-the-cat double knee. Mone gets a rollup for two. Olympia gets a rollup for two and then yanks Mone up for a one armed powerbomb which also gets two. Mone hits a jawbreaker and a big knee. Mone hits a tornado DDT and gets two. Mone hits a sit-out armbreaker and puts on the Mone Maker. Mone covers and gets two. Olympia fires up and hits a backdrop driver for two. Mone bails so Olympia goes out and ends up getting run directly into Statlander at ringside. Statlander and Mone go nose to nose and Olympia takes advantage to drag Mone back in. Mone ducks a charge and slaps on the Mone Maker. Olympia taps out.

Mercedes is kind of polarizing lately so I’m going to refrain from editorializing too much. She’s incredibly talented and being given a LOT of leeway in her booking so I didn’t expect much here. Olympia is a credible opponent with a somewhat limited moveset but an incredible look. This was decent overall but nothing I’d say you’d have to go out of your way to find. 2.5*

Winner AND STILL CMLL Women’s World Champion – Mercedes Mone (Mone Maker)

Post-match sees Statlander charge in as Mone scampers up the aisle.

We go to highlights of Dynamite prior to going to commercials.

Renee Paquette is backstage with The Young Bucks and they don’t know what to do to get themselves back on track. Don Callis wanders in and lets them know that there’s a MILLION DOLLAR tag match at Full Gear but it’s them and Josh Alexander versus Jurassic Express and Kenny Omega.

Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize vs Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir

Jon Moxley has joined the commentary team for this match. Penelope Ford accompanies Bayne. Newell and Alize attack immediately and then they hit some double-team stuff on Bayne. Shafir charges in but Alize and Newell manage to hit her with a double stomp that Moxley calls “cute”. Bayne has had enough and hits a double German on both Alize and Newell. Shafir tags in and wallops both opponents with kicks before tagging in Bayne. Bayne hits a running Liger Bomb on Newell and covers for three.

Just kind of a squash with some plucky opponents. I think it got the point across that Bayne and Shafir will be a force in the tournament. 2*

Winners – Bayne/Shafir (Bayne running Liger Bomb on Newell)

The Women’s Blood and Guts participants will be The Triangle of Madness, Megan Bayne, Marina Shafir and Mercedes Mone taking on Jamie Hayter, Queen Aminata, Harley Cameron, Willow Nightingale, Toni Storm and Kris Statlander.

LFI (The Beast Mortos, Dralistico and Sammy Guevara) vs The Conglomeration (Komander, Mark Briscoe and Roderick Strong)

This match is, as the kids would say, so random. Alex Abrihantes seconds Komander. Strong and Guevara start and as Guevara is showing off after an armdrag he gets walloped by a Strong chop. Komander tags in and Guevara snaps off a dropkick and a suplex before tagging in Dralistico. Komander hits some acrobatics and there’s a lucha segment that ends with both guys nipping up. Briscoe tags in as does Mortos and Guevara picks up a headset to instruct Schiavone to “put over more guys than just Komander”. Mortos gets a big back body drop on Briscoe, and Briscoe fires up with some RED NECK KUNG FU. Komander tags in and snaps off a rana, so Mortos tags in Guevara. Guevara gets dumped and a Pier Six breaks out. Guevara recovers and wallops Komander with a knee as everyone else is fighting on the floor. We go to commercials.

Dralistico is working over Komander when the show returns. Dralistico hits a springboard destroyer and gets two. Komander has a flurry and manages to tag in Strong who runs wild on the LFI guys. Strong hits a backbreaker on Guevara and covers for two. Mortos flies in and crushes Strong with a headbutt and he and Dralistico work over Strong before Dralistico gets a two count. Strong manages to tag in Briscoe who goes to work on Mortos and Dralistico. Briscoe wipes out Guevara and ascends before hitting a twisting moonsault on Guevara and Mortos. We do the “everyone flies in and hits moves on each other” sequence and it ends with Briscoe hitting a Jay Driller on Dralistico for three.

The Conglomeration are in the Men’s Blood and Guts so this one wasn’t a surprise in terms of the finish and winners. I lost all track of who was actually legal because that’s what AEW does in multi-mans, but we got to where we needed to be, I suppose. 2.5*

Winners – The Conglomeration (Briscoe Jay Driller on Dralistico)

Highlights are shown of the Hangman Page reveal on Dynamite. I did love the callback with Schiavone’s Phantom mask, I have to say. After the show, Eddie Kingston was consoling a grumpy HOOK while reluctantly congratulating Samoa Joe on his win in the four way number one contenders match. We go to commercials.

MxM TV make their way to the ring for the Casting Call. Let’s see who they get to job to this week while Mansoor needlessly belittles Arkady Aura.

MxM TV (Mansoor, Mason Madden and Johnny TV) vs The Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn, Juice Robinson and Ace Austin)

A Pier Six starts the match and Gunn and Mansoor end up in the ring. Gunn goes to work with right hands and then Gunn launches Austin into a flying neckbreaker on Mansoor. Austin rolls up TV and gets two before nailing TV with a dropkick. Austin’s vertical suplex gets two. TV tags in Mansoor as Austin tags in Robinson. Robinson dumps Mansoor and wipes out TV with a leg lariat. Robinson powerbombs Mansoor and Madden breaks up the cover at two. Madden gets popped by Robinson and then Gunn and Austin hit a double backdrop suplex. Mansoor gets hit with a Fameasser and the Fold and Robinson covers Mansoor for three.

Short, kind of fun, and a squash. It’s fine but I miss the Max Caster Open Challenge because MxM just aren’t quite the comedy jobbers that Caster is. 2*

Schiavone runs down the current slate of matches for Full Gear. We look at highlights of Bandido and Mascara Dorada’s match in Arena Mexico with tonight’s main event rematch happening NEXT.

ROH Men’s World Championship: Bandido (C) vs Mascara Dorada

Alex Abrihantes is out with Dorada. Bandido gets a HUGE pop when he comes out. There are 25 minutes left in the show so strap in, I guess. Handshake of Honor to start, and we’re off. Dorada grabs a wristlock as McGuinness talks up Bandido’s shoulder issues. Dorada ties up Bandido who escapes. Dorada trips up Bandido and works a bow and arrow, but Bandido escapes and works one of his own. Dorada escapes and we reset. There’s a lucha sequence that fires up the crowd. It culminates with Dorada dumping Bandido to the barrier during a tope suicida attempt. Doc Sampson charges over to check on Bandido as we go to commercials.

Bandido is favoring his shoulder when we come back and Dorada is working him over with a big forearm. Dorada’s cover gets two. Dorada allows Bandido to stand up for a chop battle. Bandido flies into a torneo that drops Dorada, and then Bandido ONE ARM PRESSES Dorada before dumping him. Dorada bails and Bandido ends up dumping him face first on the apron. Bandido hits a tope suicida but ends up clattering into the announce desk shoulder first. Bandido fires Dorada back in and hits him with a monkey flip into a corner. Bandido ascends and hits a frog splash for two. Dorada fires up and hits a face first driver from the second rope. Dorada’s DDT gets two. Bandido rolls to the apron and Dorada follows as they battle it out. Bandido hits Dorada with a leaping cutter and both guys end up on the floor. We go to commercials.

Bandido misses a running boot and Dorada hits a huge cross body but doesn’t cover. Dorada snaps off a rana and then hits Bandido with a torneo on the floor. Dorada hits a shooting star press and both guys are down on the floor. Dorada hits a crucifix driver and covers Bandido for two. Bandido fires up with a couple of knees and covers Dorada for two. Bandido snaps off a powerbomb and then both guys smash into each other with drop kicks to a huge ovation from the crowd. Dorada hits a torneo and rolls up Bandido for two. Dorada hits La Magistral for two.

Dorada dumps Bandido and ascends. Dorada’s shooting star press is met by Bandido’s knees and Bandido covers for two. Bandido misses a 21 Plex attempt and Dorada hits a big roundhouse to Bandido’s head. Bandido snaps off a rana after a fight and gets two. Bandido hits the 21 Plex and rolls up Dorada for three.

Damn. Every once in awhile Collision just drops a massively great match and the sad thing is, they’re up against another wrestling show, a full slate of college football, and only Game 7 of the World Series. What I’m saying is, you should seek out this match if you like lucha libre AT ALL. It was terrific. Bandido and Dorada have incredible chemistry and this was everything you’d expect from two world-class workers. 4.5*

Winner and STILL ROH Men’s World Champion – Bandido (21 Plex)

Post-match sees a show of respect from both guys as they get a deserved standing ovation from the crowd. Schiavone congratulates them and the credits roll.

A one-match show, but what a match it was. Listen, I said last week that Collision is always going to be a mixed bag and it’s especially true when they tape after Dynamite because you’re really running the risk of burning out the crowd. Rolling with Dorada and Bandido as the overall main event of the night was smart as hell because the crowd wanted to stay and see it, and definitely wanted to cheer both guys on. So full credit to them for that decision. Otherwise, there wasn’t much here other than maybe Okada/Takeshita vs Caster/Bowens that I’d go out of my way to find if you missed the show. The main event pushes this to thumbs slightly up for me, though.
