Evening Daily News Update
By Garth Holmberg on 21 August 2025
Good evening, doomers! Thursday Night brings us TNA Impact, featuring a Knockouts Gauntlet to determine a new #1 contender for the Knockouts Championship. Mustafa Ali, Jason Hotch and John Skyler take on Matt Cardona and The System, Frankie Kazarian faces Jake Something, and we can look forward to appearances from Trick Williams and Jacy Jayne. ROH TV has a new episode tonight on WatchROH.com, featuring a CMLL Trios Championship pitting El Sky Team against Los Depredadores (YAAAAAAAY, MORE VOLADOR JR!), Hechicero vs Jay Lethal, Vanille Baby vs. Plain Beef, AR Fox vs The Beast Mortos, as well as Trish Adora and THE VON ERICH BROTHERS in action! Wow, maybe they’ll def— oh, nevermind.
Sonic’s recap of last night’s episode of WWE Evolve gets the full focus of our content recognition today (I don’t think Scott’s Dynamite Rant needs fluffing from us, he’s the top draw). Interestingly, Ridge Holland is making appearances there, which is probably a sign that you can put money on him not being under WWE contract too deep into 2027. You can look forward to recaps of tonight’s Impact and ROH sometime later/early tomorrow.
Hulk Hogan to Death: “That Doesn’t Work For Me, Brother”
Medical malpractice is being thrown around regarding the passing of The Hulkster. Even Death can’t go over clean!
Tony Khan Media Notes
WWE running head-to-head with AEW events, the death of PPV, video games, and record-breaking gates were all topics of discussion (and mostly ignored taking shots at WWE, instead focusing on his own product)

When talking about “worst year” of a HOF career, what would you consider eligible for such recognition? Like, is a guy hanging around the league but clearly being a “situational” level player (see Robert Parish on the Bulls in the mid 90’s) something you could put in the conversation, or someone who is only putting up OK numbers that are considerably off from the career average (final year Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan with the Wizards)? Also, why is Bert Blylevin such a popular topic of conversation?
As always, enjoy yourselves, keep it clean, and come out dooming! – GH
