TNA Impact Review – 07.24.25

We start to search the rubble that was Slammiversary for bright spots to start the slow cook to Bound for Glory in October. We are in Kingston, RI on the University of Rhode Island campus, the alma mater of NBA stars Cuttino Mobley and Lamar Odom. And like Odom’s nickname, let’s see who has “The Goods” to right this ship. The best way to do that is through Impactful Discourse. Shall we? We shall.

Quick memoriam to Hulk Hogan and “USA” chant from the Rhode Islanders.

Previously in TNA, we get a full, lengthy highlight package from Slammiversary, emphasizing the title changes. We get a look at Jacy Jayne’s defeat of Masha Slamovich, highlights of the ladder-laden tag team match, won by the Hardys and we get the main event, with back and forth action and a nice injury deke by Williams to sneak in and steal the victory to retain.

We are greeted by Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rewholdt at the announce desk and by Santino Marella, who heads ringside. Marella puts on the brave face and said Slammiversary was epic and historic. We saw passion, we saw sacrifice and we saw history. BUT, something is not sitting well with him. The two top TNA titles are in the hands of NXT interlopers. “So, let me tell you something, brother….and sister” (in Hogan sendup,) Marella will do everything he can to rectify the situation, We are warriors and have the best wrestlers in the world (well…..) He is going to get the right people into the right position to get the titles back and maybe bring back extra gold of their own, as he references Ethan Page.

Suddenly, we get Masha Slamovich’s music and here she heads down the ring. She didn’t come out here to thank Marella for the pep talk and for people to hear her talk. She carried the Knockout’s Division on her back and beat everyone they put in front of her. And at Slamiversary, Jayne stole the title from and now she wants to get what is hers – what it is is her contractual rematch. Marella said she asked for it and so she gets her rematch next week against “Jacy Janey.”

She starts to leave until we hear the System’s music start up as all five members walk down to ringside. Alicia Edwards and Slamovich actually fist bump. That’s nice; you see, New Yorkers and Bostonians can coexist.

Eddie Edwards shakes Marella’s hand and gets the mic. Santino wanted warriors for this company and here we are. They fight for what TNA believes. At Slammiversary, they weren’t just representing the System but all of TNA as they sent Dark State packing to NXT (where they’ll only plague our Tuesdays.) Alicia is a riot emphasizing everything with over the top non-verbal gestures.

A loud “TNA” chant emerges as Edwards continues. He has bled for this company and seen it rise and fall and admits to thinking about leaving (cough American Pitbulls cough) but those days are long gone. He is not going to let some outsiders take things that do not belong to them.

Myers gets the mic and pontificates. He said the colors and the brand mean everything to the System (ergo the red and yellow gear.) This is not a pit stop for a person’s career. This is our home. JDC grabs the mic and said if TNA goes to war we will be soldiers and we do not crack under pressure.

That leaves Moose. He said that he accomplished almost evwerything at this pint in his career since he got here and it is about creating his legacy which is synonymous with lumanaries such as AJ Styles. Wrestling Leon Slater is why he loves TNA so much. He had been to war with everyone in the locker room. They bleed, they fall but we get our glutes back up and that is what Slater did Sunday. He earned the right to be the youngest X-Division champion in history and will take the division to new heights.

Moose continued; a wise man told him you don’t need to carry a title to be the face of a franchise. Moose has been here for a decade. He has seen wrestlers come and go and call themselves the face of the franchise. He looks at Edwards, who had been here as long as he has and he is the heart and soul of TNA and that Moose is the face of TNA (well…) He knows TNA has has had ups and downs. They have been met with indifference, ridicule and criticism. But they are still here, waving the flag and carrying the company. Now, he knows what he has to do and it is three little words “Whoop that Trick.”

BUT HOLD EVERYTHING,here is Trick Williams, with First Class in tow, and none the worse for wear after Tuesday’s encounter with the Undertaker. Williams asked for Moose’s bobbleheaded glutes to sit down. He said he had a lot of nerve losing his title to Slater and then mumble over his words and call out Williams. Moose must be stupid.

Williams continued that this is now his house after he took out “Average Joe” (with Navarro humorously goofing on Hendry’s pose) and he took out the “Loud and Proud Boriqua, Mike Santana.” Williams brought the largest attendance in TNA history and goes into a freestyle about the best faction, regardless of the System or Order Four. This is TrickNA and Moose is in the past. Moose invites him to wobble his glutes down “with Uncle Phil and Pink” and they’ll show him how things are done in TNA.

BUT HOLD EVERYTHING..Again.Order Four emerges with Servicemen in tow. Ali glances at the tiltle for a bit and takes the mic. “Mr. Williams, let’s not talk about it…never mention my good name again or I will bury your (glutes) like my name was the Undertaker.” (grab the aloe vera, that was a nice burn.)

He continued by saying we are the greatest faction in TNA – not Second Class or some broken down System. He demands all of TNA rise and give them a round of applause as they take their place as the greatest faction of all time.

And a schmozapalooza starts, with Santino looking around flustered. Luckily, security has the wherewithal to break up the fracas. Meanwhile, on the ramp, Williams and First Class are having a good chuckle at this as we get a weird ad break.

When we return, we are backstage with the System who are with Marella. We cannot have this much chaos so he needs a moment to figure things out. To help is the emergence of Matt Cardona from off screen who said he saw what happened and whatever they do, Cardona is there with them. Suddenly, Marella has an epiphanous smile and said since they are on the same page, we get a reunion of the Edgeheads and it is Cardona and Myers versus the Great Hands later tonight. And next week, the remaining System components face Williams and First Class.

Before we can say anything else, the Personal Concierge is here and tell us to shut our mouths. They way what we do in life echoes in eternity. So, he Googled Rhode Island and what they’ve done to echo in eternity is absolutely nothing. Do we want to know why? (sure.) Because they’re all losers and degenerates. They are all miserable and have done thing in their lives.

But fret not, he is here to give them something to be happy. He wants to us to welcome the TNA Knockouts Tag Champions….the By Elegance Brand (and M.) They emerge adorned in red.

Six Woman Tag Match: By Elegance Brand vs. the Iinspiration and ?????

The Iinspiration head down to ringside in black and white gear (weird thing I thought was cool, they wore mismatched boots, one black and one white.) We get McKay, shimmying everything she has as we await the ??????

And the ???? is….Mara Sade? Who is….Oh, okay, it’s the artist formerly known as Jakara Jackson. Okay. She looked good. She also serves us some nice dance moves, too. M tried to do the same. She tried.

McKay starts with M, who taunts McKay until McKay gets the advantage via a foot stomp. M gets a shoulder block but Lee and McKay briefly take an advantage with an assisted huricanrana. However, a double suplex is caught by the Elegancers. That brings everyone to the ring but the Elegancers get triple boots to floor the Iinspiration and Sade and we mockingly STRIKE THE POSE!!! However, the faces recover and get a triple beatdown as the Elegancers bail to the ring. McKay and Lee get on the apron and hit bodypresses to drop the Elegancers. When the Elegancers get back to their feet, Sade hits a dive between the ropes (she got most of it) and drop the Elegancers as they STRIKE THE POSE!! as we’re struck with advertisements.

When we return Ash has the advantage over Jessie. The Elegancers hit the handspring elbow (Ash) smash and seated drop kick (Heather) double team; it’s made a triple team as M also hit a seated dropkick from the apron. Heather than climbs on M’s shoulders to tease high she is now taller than the Iinspirations (it really did look like little sister standing on big sister. On the other hand, nice show of strength by M.)

Ash is tagged back in and chokes Cassie on the ropes, with M assisting as the ref was distracted by the IInspriations. However, a dual clothesline drops both. The Elegancers take the opportunity to attack McCKay and Sade but are fought off. Lee attempted the hope crawl but Ash pulled her back and knocked down the other two.

However, an Ash charge leads to a Lee drop toehold and now we get the hot tag to Sade as M is tagged, too. Sade hits a series of forearms and punches; and a drop kick to Heather. Sade also hits the Rear View to Ash and M and gets a hair pulldown on Heather.

A Tornado DDT on M gets two before Ash breaks it up, Ash throws Sade to the turnbuckles, but McKay hits a big boot on Ash. Heather returns with a stunner and drags M to the corner for the tag. Heather and M are on the turnbuckles, and a Huricanrana/senton splash combo gets two-and-a-fraction. Sade fights Heather but is thrown to the corner. But, Sade dropkicks M and tagged in Lee. A quick tag to McKay leads to the Iidolizer on Heather gets the win.

Post Match: We get more dancing and we dance off to the Bioflex report.

Gia Miller got a minor head injury by Tessa Blanchard and is under medical observation. Due to the severity, Blanchard is suspended indefinitely. Moose got a hip contusion at Slammiversary, and is being monitored closely and is day-to-day as is KC Navarro, who reinjured knee during the ladder match.

Speaking of interviewers, go backstage with Gabby LaSpisa who sees Santana. Santana does not want to be interviewed and walked off screen. However, Indi Hartwell is just standing around a storage space in the arena (weird place to hang out but okay) and has time to talk about how pathetic Blanchard’s attack was but now she can focus on getting the TNA Knockout Title. Coming into frame is Dani Luna who extends her thanks for last week. Now, Victoria Crawford comes into frame and grants a title shot because she is now in a mentoring position. She heads off frame and three wonder who is she mentoring as we wonder who will be advertising next.

We return to Eric Young and the Northern Armory. Young has given TNA 23 years. Now, the outsiders are everywhere. Maybe it is up to Young and Armory to fix it. Hendry and Santana couldn’t do it, maybe he has to be the one to do it. “Maybe, I have to cleanse this place,” he said as Icarus makes faces and Williams glowers.

Leon Slater comes out and eventually gets a good pop (the music and graphics seemed to be confusing initially to the crowd.) Slater is all smiles and grabs the mic. Now, the crowd gets into it and gives him a good round of applause. After shouting out Rhode Island that “we did it,” A nice “You deserve it” chant breaks. He thanks the crowd and said this that, somehow and someway he walked out the youngest X-Division Champion.

He also gave Moose respect. He said he had to get through the best in the world and when the match was done and the dust settled, Moose strapped the belt around his waist and that is that is respect.

He talked about AJ Styles’ return to TNA wrestling and how Slater felt like a kid at Christmas the moment he came to ringside. Styles said get ready to fly and he was ready when he they shook hands.

While he may think of himself as a record breaker and history make, he does want to take the division back to its roots. Those roots are steeped in athleticism, speed and agility. He runs down a litany of champs from the past, including Styles, Alex Shelley, Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe, to name a few. Now he is going to carry that legacy on his shoulders.

Lastly, there are two people he wants to give credit to and they are Matt and Jeff Hardy. They paved the way for him and for the whole business. He wanted them to come out for a moment and they do. They get a huge pop as the crowd goes nuts.

Matt grabs the mic first saying they love to hear that. At Slammiversary, they made a special run and felt the special energy being there with Jeff as they won their fourth TNA tag titles. And now, their “son,” Leon Slater is the new X-Divisions champ. They are glad to be here in front of all the TNA fan base. The energy the fans provide keeps the Hardy train going and deleting all in its path.

Jeff gets the mic and said maybe not so much a train but a Hardy Soul Train (Jeff, buddy; no.) and it going to keep “Choo-chooing” and “chug-chugging” until the wheels fall off.

Trying to keep the wheels back on is Steve Maclin who joins us with mic. He shook the Hardy’s and Slater’s hands. He said he was listening in the back and wanted to get something off his chest. He was not happy with what happened at Slammiversary. We now have interlopers and outsiders with TNA titles. What the fans see in the ring are real champions. He props out Slater and drops Slater’s “Ya got me” catchphrase.

He then talks about the Hardys and sees peers, mentors and heroes and, most of all the greatest tag team of all time (loud “Hardy” chant emerges.) And then you have Maclin, the grunt that thought he would never make it out alive and be the champion. But, he is still International Champion. They put their blood, sweat and tears into this and the fans believed in us. So, now it is on us to draw the line in the sand and make this declaration to anyone listening in the locker room or around the world. This is Maclin’s home. This is our TNA and anyone who dares to stop us should be ready for war.

Matt wraps it up by saying it is a war we refuse to lose as all four hold up their titles. Hannifan said this is what real TNA champs look like. And these are what real commercials look like.

No disqualification match: Mance Warner vs. Jake Something

We come back from break bathed in red light as Mance Warner makes his way to ring side with Steph DeLander in tow for their no DQ battle and some PDA. Something’s music hits and he runs down to ringside and clotheslines Warner on the floor. Something chases Warner until DeLander finds a trashcan lid and Warner hits Something in the back with it. DeLander then grabbed a chair and Warner hits Something in the back with that. DeLander finds another trashcan lid as Warner continues to pound away and Something’s back is something else.

Something recovers and throws Warner to the turnbuckle with a trashcan lid placed on it. However, when Something hits the ropes for an attempted top rope dive, Warner met him with a chair. Warner chops away at Something as DeLander cheers. Warner sets up chairs and poses but that gives Something time to recover and hit him with a body block and slams his head into the mat.

Something now eyes the chair and drags Warner to the corner and onto the top turnbuckle. However, DeLander distracted him by pulling on his leg – this gave Warner time to recover and hit the superplex on the chairs as a “Holy excrement” chant breaks (Something sold it like he was electrocuted.) However, this only got two. And now starts to chant it wants tables.

DeLander, sadist as she is, instead reaches under the apron and grabs a sledgehammer a la Paul Levesque and gives it a kiss (the hammer, not Triple H – the other Steph might not approve.) Warner grabs the hammer but Something moves and Warner gets nothing but chair. Something punches Warner with a chair and goes under the ring and grabs a bag (oh, come on guys, really?)

The tacks are dispersed on the ground. Warner and Something slug away with Something getting the upper hand and a back suplex onto the tacks (that was not smart; as many tacks ended on Something as they did on Warner.) Something gets into the ring. Warner gets into the ring and charges Something but runs straight Into the Void as Something emerges victorious. We head straight into the void for commercials.

(funny sidenote, one of the ads after the match was for the Thumbtack app for home projects and other important stuff to remember.)

We go back into break and get a quick recap of the Page vs. Santino debate from NXT. We go live and Jacy Jayne emerges with both belts and Fatal Influence in tow. She greets the Rhode Islanders and tells them to look at their champion. She had one question, why was everyone so shocked that a woman from the deepest women’s division in wrestling came to TNA and knocked out the unstoppable and unbeatable Slamovich. She addressed the lineage of the title and when you look at it, you think of hall of famers like Gail Kim, Mickie James, Awesome Kong, the Beautiful People and even Jordynne Grace.

But she is going to change the course of history because when they look at this championship, they will think of Jayne. Her reign will be historic and epic. She does not want to knock (no pun intended) the current roster of extremely talented women; but, the problem is they are all over the place.

She takes a plethora of funny shots at the roster. Blanchard calls herself “undeniable” but is suspended every month. The…By Elegance Brand is anything but, Rosemary and Victoria Crawford showed by locked into an asylum, Xia Brookside looks like she is ready for a music festival and not to compete, Xia Lee needs to stick to MMA and her favorite is the one who calls herself “the Knockout” who has done nothing of relevancy. She is holding the title and we should take a picture of the double champ and she is going to be champ for a long time and they need to know that Jacy Jayne always gets the last laugh.

But our advertisers get the last laugh since they are next as we see Order Four head to the ring with extra servicemen in tow.

Tag Team Match: Great Hands vs. Cardona and Myers

The Hands are already in the ring as Cardona and Myers head to ringside with Alicia Edwards in tow as they jaw at the servicemen. Hannifan said it had been two years since Cardona and Myers last tagged.

Jason Hotch and Cardona start. They trade shoves but Cardona gets the better. A test of strength is teased but Hotch kicked Cardona. However, Cardona got the momentum back by hitting a flapjack. Myers is tagged and an assisted Russian Leg Sweep gets two. Myers hits a back suplex and Hotch bails to the floor as Myers got ready for a spear.

Myers chased Hotch but Hotch hit a superkick as Myers attempted to get back into the ring. This gave a chance for John Skyler to run Myers into the apron and throws Myers back as Hotch hits the chinlock.

Skyler enters the tag but Myers grabbed both and hit a DDT on both of them. Cardona is tagged and cleans house with a clothesline and a missile dropkick. Cardona pays homage to his wife with an Unprettier for two until it is broken up by Hotch. Myers clotheslines Hotch out of the ring. Cardona gets ready to hit the Reboot but Ali jumps on the apron for the distraction and eats a clothesline for his effort. Steelz then gets into the ring and jaws her down but Alicia Edwards pulls her down and the two start the brawl.

Cardona watches but one of the Servicemen (the giant one from last week) enters the ring and hits a two-handed chokeslam on Cardona as Skyler gets the victory.

The main event is up next but first, ads.

We come back from break as Frankie Kazarian attempts to join the announcers but Rewholdt has had enough of him and has him removed from the booth. Rewholdt said it had to be done.

Main Event: Mike Santana vs. Joe Hendry

Santana comes out first through an entrance near ringside but does make his way up to join the fans. He is insanely over with the crowd; matched only by Hendry who is out next. Verses are sung, hands wave and Hendry hits the ting and STRIKES THE POSE!! A “we believe” chant break out as AXS believes we need commercials.

When we come back, we have a dueling “We believe/Mike Santana” chant. We have a handshake and we lock up. Hendry backs Santana to the corner but breaks on the referee’s count. Santana then backs Hendry into the corner but trades shoves with the other. The two fight into position as we get a chain of armlocks and flipouts. Hendry gets a fireman’s carry but Santana reverses it until Hendry rolls out of a headscissors.

We get another chain of go behinds and reversals. Hednry tries to get the advantage with an armlock but Santana reverses that. Hendry goes to an armlock and it is another round of reversals and head scissors reverses as a loud “TNA” chant emerges. Santana tries another headlock takeover but Hendry gets a quick rollup which Santana quickly reverses to another chain of armlocks, headlocks and headscissors.

The two stand up and get a quick shoving match as Santana gets a headlock. They both try shoulderblocks off the ropes to no effect. Santana gets an advantage after a Hendry hip toss which Santana hit a series of armdrags and then feigns a Spin the Block for a rollup of two. Santana followed that with a clothesline and back splash. Santana poses and picks up Hendry and starts to chop away as we head away to commercials.

We get an Ozzy Osburne tribute similar to Hogan.

When we return, Hendry is slugging away with forearms and a knee lift. They both exchange punches but Santana gets the upper hand with a flying clothesline. Santana is fired up and chops awyWe come back, with Hendry slugging away and Hendry landing forearms and Henry with a knee lift. Both slug away, but a throw into the turnbuckles is reversed and Santana hits an enziguri. Hendry got the upper hand momentarily by reversing two Rolling Block 50’s; the second one was reversed into a cutter as both men were on the mat.

Hendry keeps the momentum going by hitting a clothesline and then a fallaway slam and we STRIKE THE POSE!!! Hendry gets the crowd into the match but Santana blocked a Standing Ovation. Hendry reversed that into an Olympic Slam for two-and-a-fraction. Santana hits the ropes but eats a popup powerbomb and a Death Valley Driver for another two-and-a-fraction.

Hendry attempted another Standing Ovation but Santana reversed it into an armdrag. Santana hits the ropes and after a somewhat awkward back drop elude NOW hits the Rolling Block 50. Santana goes to the top rope and hit a frog splash for two-and-a-fraction. Santana sets up the Spin the Block but Hendry reversed it to a Standing Ovation. However, that is reversed with a series of forearms. Santana gets a rollup for two but Hendry reversed that for a two-and-a-fraction.

The two trade roll ups one more time. After a reversal Hendry got a Sunset Flip but Santana rolled out of it. He grabbed Hendry’s legs and flipped over into a cradle for the victory.

Post Match: the two go forehead to forehead look at the crowd and then look to the cameras. They do show a sign of respect one more time and shakes hands as we go off the air.

Impactful Ruminations:

First, Jacy Jayne continues this great run by delivering a solid promo. She seems like she is comfortable and trying to elude the Mandy Rose mannerisms. The one knock I would say is this; two days ago, Fatal Influence were showing cracks of dissipating, tonight, all is well.

Two, I had a weird feeling that we saw a torch passed and that is going to be Santana as the one who defeats Williams. That was a fantastic match and showed skill I did not think Santana could pull. The rollups/reversals were chained together rather nicely. I thought Santana did great. Hendry also delivers the good stuff but he seems like the he will be the one to head to WWE come the end of the year.

Three, Slater had a long promo but seemed comfortable as the solid up and coming heel and is poised to take the helm from whoever leaves. The Hardys were there for the rub and did not completely derail the segment (Jeff’s Soul Train comment notwithstanding.)

Fourth, shout out to Steve Maclin for delivering a great promo. He has the timing of believability. They aren’t Shakespearean monologues but he says his piece and gets to action. It may not be memorable but it is believable.

Fifth, with Lash Legend starting to make her run at a NXT title match, I worried what of poor Jakara Jackson. The worries were unfounded, she did a great job in her match with the Iinspiration. The moves were crisp (the dive between the ropes wasn’t perfect but she got a large portion of it.) She had the persona she started to exude late in the Meta-4 NXT faction.

Sixth, no more thumbtacks. Or ladders, or ladders with thumbtacks. That was just a silly gratuitous angle in the Something/Warner match.

Seventh, I do like they are keeping NXT and TNA from a full own WCW/NWO scenario by having just a few but powerful interactions. It will take a deft touch but the pacing is good on it.

Eighth, WWE more often than not, generally makes the right call on letting talent go to other companies. I think they whiffed on Ali. He has done great work in the ring and on the mic. Order Four is a really good faction.

Ninth, I don’t really want to veer this toward Hogan but I will say a couple of things. One, don’t live the gimmick. Two, cults of personalities will lead you forward but also the risk is forward off a cliff. He and McMahon were responsible for a lot of folks watching wrestling and reading this. He also drove a ton away by being who he was. I was never a fan of his because it was just so much. But, he put eyes on the product, good and bad, and brought us together here to praise and bury him.

Lastly, I wish I would have known this as a teen, but I was shocked how many attractive women seem to hang out in storage spaces. What an odd spot for an interview but it’s the place to be, apparently.
