Evening Daily News Update

By Garth Holmberg on 8 July 2025

Good evening, Doomers. It’s Tuesday and you know what that means… It means I probably should find a fresh opening bit. ANYWAY, we’ve got NXT tonight, the go-home show for the Great American Bash on July 12th… wait, JULY 12th? So we’re getting Bash AND Saturday Night’s Main Event on the same day? Isn’t AEW All In on Saturday as well?! Well, as I’ve always said, the AEW fans will watch AEW, and WWE fans will watch WWE, and the crossover will prioritize the show that costs (more) money to watch and catch the replay of the show they feel is secondary.

Kat brings us another week of Monday Night Raw coverage, Rock Star Gary is burning the midnight oil with back-to-back days of World Class, and Alex has a new (Almost) 5-Star Match Review. All this and MORE on the BoD.

TNA Seeking Weekly Live Broadcast Deal
The Bob’s Burgers of the Pro Wrestling World continues to chug along against improbable odds and looks to make a jump back to where they were more than a decade ago and bring us live TV on a weekly basis. Just keep Tommy Dreamer from having too much say in anything.

Nikki Needs Brie to Make Comeback Complete
The WWE Hall of Famer and longest-reigning Diva’s Champion says this return won’t be complete until the Bellas are back together. I say we didn’t need this return at all, especially since Liv went down with an injury and now Nikki’s in a Battle Royal instead of a meaningful match on the Evolution 2 card.

YouTube Spotlight: Before They Were Superstars!
See some of WWE’s biggest names before they were Superstars! Watch John Cena battle Crash Holly from UPW in 2000, Seth Rollins take on “Dashing” Cody Rhodes in a pre-SmackDown dark match in 2010, one of Gunther’s earliest matches in EVOLVE and more!

We’re a week out from the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, which seems incredible because I swear the NBA Playoffs just ended, and we’re already halfway through the season. Time flies when you’re unnecessarily stretching things out to fill the calendar… I normally give most of my attention to the teams in the East and the bottom feeders (hello, Yankees!), but let’s take a look at our poor suckers in the Central. The Detroit Tigers have an incredible 14 game lead while posting a .630 winning %, but that’s the benefit of playing the White Sox and a bunch of mid-teams all the time. Poor Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates is posting a sub-2 ERA with less than 1 WHIP… and has a record of 4-7. I’m not saying I condone the behavior, but if I were him, I’d be on the phone with my agent demanding a trade RIGHT F*CKING NOW. It’s astonishing how putrid the Pirates offense is, because their pitching is legit good enough to make at least a Wild Card run, if not challenge for the division.

As always, keep it clean and come out dooming. – GH
