Fyter Fest in Denver Notes
By Scott Keith on 6 June 2025
Jon Eks from the comments here. I was at Fyter Fest last night and you were right about the hot crowd. A few notes:
– Mission Ballroom is ostensibly a concert venue that holds ~3000 people and is a phenomenal place to see a show. This is the venue size AEW should be running because it felt loud and intimate and immediate. The set up was weird with the hard camera at the entrance where they came out, but the sightlines were great, the sound was terrific, and the night was fun as hell. Tickets in the upper parts were all GA, too, so you could move around.
– I agree with your take on the action being really good, but like, the matches didn’t have really clear stakes? Didn’t seem to matter to the crowd who was ready to party. Very fun crowd to be in, and I think the venue helped this.
– That said, four hours is way too fucking long for a TV taping. After the Ospreay match, the crowd sort of died. The FTR match seemed good overall, but was the wrong type of match for that late in the evening. The following six man was hot death and that’s when my crew left.
– NXT should run this arena because it’s perfect for that product. Ball Arena’s crowds typically ain’t very good for whatever reason, but this was fun as hell.
– Ospreay, Hangman, Toni Storm and Kenny Omega were all crazy over. The crowd HATED the Death Riders with multiple “Fuck you, Yuta” chants during the Moxley/Briscoe match. The poor Paragon feels ice cold as everyone sat down during their promo.
– First time in a long time I’ve enjoyed a Denver show from a major promotion. Would absolutely see a show again in this building.
