Evening Daily News Update – May 27th, 2025
By Garth Holmberg on 27 May 2025
FROM THE PAGES OF THE BOD MAGAZINE, HERE’S UPDATE!
Good evening, it’s Tuesday and you know what that means! We’ve got NXT and the fallout from Battleground to look forward to tonight. Before you know it, another NXT special will take place and be conveniently scheduled against an AEW PPV. Oba Femi, Stephanie Vaquer, and Sol Ruca retained their Championships, but the biggest news was Trick Williams defeating Joe Hendry for the TNA Championship. I still can’t believe I’m talking about a WWE product and “TNA” being a significant part of the show.
RIP Rick Derringer.
Enjoy Rick performing “Rock ‘n’ Roll Hoochie Koo” live with Edgar Winter from 1973 and fall down a rabbit hole if you please. I would share the obvious choices, but good quality videos aren’t on YouTube (or at least not within 10-seconds of a search)
Zoey Stark on the Road to Recovery
We’re all wishing Zoey a full recovery and hope to see her back in the ring.
Dave Meltzer Presents Fuzzy Math
Using his unique ways of mathematizing, the recent episode of Monday Night Raw cratered in the ratings and WWE will be dead by Arbor Day… *checks calendar* Oh, we just passed it. Sorry. Dead by Canada Day. (THIS NEWS BIT IS MEANT FOR SATIRE AND IN NO WAY SUGGESTS WWE IS REALLY IN TROUBLE OR DAVE MELTZER IS A REAL JOURNALIST. SATIRE PEOPLE. SATIRE)
IN THE WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS…
The Seattle SupersonicsOklahoma City Thunder broke the hearts of the Minnesota Timberwolves, taking Game 4 to secure a commanding 3-1 series lead with the WCF returning to the Paycom Center tomorrow night. In the Eastern Conference Finals, the New York Knicks look to build on the momentum of their Game 3 comeback victory and hope to knot up their series at 2 apiece with the Indiana Pacers, with tip-off taking place a little after 8pm ET.
In Hockey news, the Florida Panthers finally lost a game to the Carolina Hurricanes. The series is still 3-1 in the Panthers favor, but who cares? That snaps the Hurricanes losing streak in Conference Finals. Tonight, it’s Game 4 of the WCF with the Dallas Stars visiting the Edmonton Oilers, with the Oilers holding a 2-1 series lead. I have money invested in the game tonight, and hopefully there’s a lot of shots on goal. Daddy needs a new pair of everything.
The Colorado Rockies look to continue their path to history (and infamy) as they visit the Chicago Cubs. With a record of 9-45, which projects to shatter the 2024 White Sox’s record of ineptitude. The New York Yankees have the beloved (by 3 people) Tampa Bay Rays sniffing at their heels, while the Philadelphia Phillies control the NL (L)East. I guess it’s worth celebrating, assuming you’re OK with beating up on the Miami Marlins a bunch of times.
AUTHOR APPRECIATION…
Kat has last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw covered for all of us who just can’t sit through all the ads and Netflix buffering issues, Rock Star Gary has World Class and the calendar flipping to 1988, and you’ve got plenty of Scott’s archives being added to the Blog to re-visit. I’m working on another Fan-Cam, but watching Nikolai Volkoff during the New Generation is a motivation massacre.
You know the rules. Keep it clean, play friendly, cheer for the New York Knicks, and come out dooming!
