Evening Daily News Update – May 23rd, 2025
By Garth Holmberg on 23 May 2025
From the pages of the BOD Magazine, here’s UPDATE…
Salutations, Doomers. It’s Friday, and you know what that means. We’ve got TNA Under Siege streaming tonight on TNA-Plus. Not feeling TNA? ROH has moved outside of its paywall shackles and will stream tonight on YouTube. What? ROH not your thing either? Well, then you can suffer through three hours of Smackdown, where 35 minutes of it would make for great TV, and the rest is a slog that makes me long for the days of Triple H’s Reign of Terror never-ending promos.
Long-Lost Hulk Hogan and Giant Gonzalez Moment NO LONGER LOST
What a week from the WWE Vault YouTube channel! We get a rare Giant Baba appearance at a WWF TV Taping, a never-before-seen Dark Match between John Tenta and Sam Houston, and now the infamous face-off between Hulk Hogan and The Giant Gonzalez! What a time to be alive…
The WWE Vault has also gifted us a 2+ hour compilation of the Man They Call Vader, falling along the lines of the Remix collections previously done for Randy Savage and Terry Funk (without using the remix title). I would have loved an extended Andre compilation with all the content from various promotions in the archives, but that upload earlier in the week will have to do for now.
In The Wide World of Sports (and how to break your heart)…
The Florida Panthers continued making the Carolina Hurricanes know who their daddy is, jumping out to a 1st period 3-0 lead and cruising to a 5-o victory, securing a 2-0 series lead as they move the series to Miami… the Panthers play in Miami, right? I’m a Lightning guy if I’m picking Florida teams. Dallas looks to extend their series lead over Edmonton when they face-off in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals tonight.
Oklahoma City Thunder continues to wreck fools, squashing the Timberwolves for a commanding 2-0 series lead. Speaking of fools, I’m sure whatever clown said the Wolves would stomp on the Thunder in 5 games is feeling like a jabroni right now. Hopefully the New York Knicks can learn from the mistakes of mimicking the playbook of the Boston Celtics and not squander a 2nd-half 17-point lead two games in a row. Also, OG Anunoby getting snubbed for All-Defense Team honors has me hopping mad.
The Colorado Rockies, through the first 50 games of the MLB season, locked in a record of 8-42, one of the all-time worsts, and I don’t mean just the modern era, I mean DEAD BALL ERA TOO. THE CLEVELAND SPIDERS OF 1899 HAD A BETTER START! Also, the 2025 White Sox are marching in the footsteps of the 2024 White Sox, with both clubs starting their seasons 15-35. Amazing.

Phrederic has more All Japan Champion Carnival (04.26.2025) for us, Alex has 5-Star Match Reviews featuring Sting’s Squadron vs The Dangerous Alliance, Michael Fitzgerald has NJPW Best of the Super Junior 1997, and Saherrin joins the squad, taking a look at last night’s episode of TNA Impact. We’ve got a lot of fresh faces contributing, and it’s great to pitch in with suggestions and ideas for all our new content contributors. I’ll probably have tonight’s ROH covered sometime late this evening or tomorrow, for the 3 of you who give a crap about ROH’s weekly programming.
Enjoy your Friday evening, keep it clean, and come out dooming. Good luck to “The Void” in their pursuit of Happyness (CAUSE IT AIN’T COMIN’ FROM THE PACERS TONIGHT). You’re now free of my update shenanigans for the next couple of days (**crowd celebrates wildly**)
