What the World Was Watching: WWF Superstars – November 13, 1993

By LScisco on 5 March 2025

Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler are in the booth, still broadcasting from Burlington, Vermont. It is revealed that Randy Savage has been barred from commentating after what happened with Crush on Monday Night RAW.

Opening Contest: Men on a Mission (w/Oscar) (15-0) beat Mike Sharpe & Chuck Greenman when Mo pins Greenman after an elbow drop at 3:08:

Lawler makes a good point that he is unsure of what MOM’s mission is. Greenman avoids a big Mabel elbow drop and an avalanche but cannot press the advantage. MOM finishes with a Mabel falling clothesline and Mo elbow drop.

Ludvig Borga (16-0-1) beats Dan Dubiel via submission to the torture rack at 2:02:

In the split screen, the Foreign Fanatics argue that the All Americans have a hopeless task at Survivor Series. Dubiel manages to knock Borga down with a forearm to the back off the ropes but he gets caught trying to do a body press off. Borga hits Dubiel in the gut and wins another squash with the torture rack.

Irwin R. Schyster plays Royal Rumble on Sega Genesis, gloating about how he is looking to beat up all of the tax cheats in the WWF in the game.

The All Americans do an in-ring interview with Howard Finkel. Seeing Finkel moderate an interview segment is weird as one thinks of his voice for ring introductions and not describing angles. However, the company had decided to nix Gene Okerlund, Joe Fowler, and Boni Blackstone by this point so it had no one else to turn to. Luger does a flat bit about how Tatanka will be with them in spirit at Survivor Series and the Undertaker will be their new partner. That gets a big crowd reaction but Luger had no excitement in his voice to announce it. The Undertaker comes to the ring with Paul Bearer. The Undertaker talks about American pride as his reason for joining the team and opens his coat to reveal a Betsy Ross American flag. The Foreign Fanatics come to ringside but never get into the ring. The crowd chants “USA” in response. The Undertaker has said that he hated this segment as he thought defending America was out of step with his gimmick.

As Booger makes his way to the ring, Doink the Clown appears on the screen and makes some fat jokes about him. He predicts that Booger will be the first person eliminated from Survivor Series. Booger rebuts to the camera that he is going to rip the head off the clowns.

Bastion Booger (14-7) pins Joe Brennan after the Trip to the Batcave at 1:07:

Booger makes fast work of Brennan so he can consume a cup of vanilla yogurt afterward. Booger’s sit-down splash finisher also has a name, as Bobby Heenan christened it last week on Wrestling Challenge.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Razor Ramon (Champion) (32-3-2) defeats Rick Martel (4-2-1) via count out at 4:59 shown:

This is the first televised defense of Ramon’s Intercontinental title. Martel ambushes Ramon when he is handing his gold to a ringside official and uses a chair to weaken the champion’s left knee. Harvey Wippleman comes ringside three minutes in and sure enough, his presence is what makes things worse for Martel. At least that is the case until Wippleman hops on the apron and stops a Razor’s Edge. Ramon gets knocked to the floor and confronts Wippleman. When Martel tries to intervene, Ramon cuts him off and atomic drops him into Wippleman, beating the referee’s count to retain. The match was going well until Wippleman got involved and the match rushed to a conclusion. Rating: *½

After the match, a frustrated Martel shoves Wippleman. When Wippleman shoves back, Martel grabs him by his collar and that brings out Adam Bomb, who tells Martel to get away from his manager. Irwin R. Schyster and Diesel walk out to try to play peacemaker so that their Survivor Series team is not destroyed. Everyone eventually reconciles and puts their hands together in unity.

Todd Pettengill does the Survivor Series Report. Some pictures are shown of the Hart Family and Bret says a poll of 15 million people saw them name Jerry Lawler as the person most likely to get their butt kicked at the pay-per-view. Bret puts Owen above Keith and Bruce by saying that Owen wants a “big piece” of Lawler compared to the small pieces that Keith and Bruce want. Jim Cornette tells the Rock N’ Roll Express that the Heavenly Bodies will beat them in a neutral location for the Smoky Mountain Wrestling Tag Team Championship.

Lord Alfred Hayes announces that WWF Champion Yokozuna will defend his title against Bret Hart on Survivor Series Showdown, which will air on USA Network on Sunday, November 21.

Diesel (3-0) defeats Chaz Ware after the right hand at 1:22:

Diesel is gradually getting the hang of things, putting on his best squash so far as he does some knees in the corner, throws a big boot, and knocks Ware out with the right hand.

Irwin R. Schyster promises to make history next week by ruining Bret Hart’s quest to be WWF champion. Bret rebuts that he is going to go through IRS to get to Yokozuna and regain the title that is rightfully his.

Tune in next week to see Bret Hart face Irwin R. Schyster! Also, Bam Bam Bigelow will be in action!

The Last Word: The Undertaker reveal for the All Americans could have fit his gimmick better but his inclusion in the match is an upgrade over Tatanka. It fits existing storylines as well since the Undertaker is doing a house show program with Yokozuna, although WWF television has done nothing with that program since a staredown between the two on September 25. Lex Luger looked checked out during the interview and it is not good for him that the Undertaker and Bret Hart are drawing louder reactions. Survivor Series Showdown has a good main event as Bret iis slowly being turned back onto the WWF title path after wandering in the wilderness from the main event scene since WrestleMania. The one match that is not clicking for Survivor Series is the Four Doinks matchup because of Matt Osborne’s termination. The WWF was scrambling to figure out what to do about the future of the Doink gimmick behind the scenes, which is why Doink’s only appearances were happening through the video board.
