Snap Thoughts: TNA Impact February 13th 2025

As TNA has developed an actual following of dozens of fans, I’m going to consider doing a quick little reaction to TNA and try to foster some post-show discussion.

Joe Hendry (c) vs. Jake Something – TNA World Championship

Will this match change your world? No, but Joe is a very solid meat and potatoes worker and Jake is good too. Just a good, solid title defense where the challenger was stronger than the champion but through guts and gumption the face champion rode out the abuse and won clean. Unfortunately it seems Something suffered a bad injury sometime in this mix so all hope he recovers well from it.

This was Good.

Ryan Nemeth does his thing and then Nic comes down and tries to fight a rampaging Something and he accidentally superkicks Santino and he gets suspended, whatever, gotta do something with Nic I guess.

This was Meh.

Ash By Elegance and Heather By Elegance (w/ The Personal Concierge) vs. King Bees (Dannie Bee and Charity King)

Just an extended squash by the Concierge did his pre-match promo and his nonsense and the Elegance’s actually looked pretty competent, I enjoyed it and it established that they’re not total jokes and we got the post-match brawl with Spitfire and we might finally get a title change.

This was Good.

Mustafa Ali declares that the Good Hands are now the Great Hands and that Tasha Steelz is his press secretary and this is the quickest stable creation ever, he does his politician schtick a bit and then Tommy Dreamer tells him that the real locker room leader is Mike Santana and I guess that’s a feud. I’m excited for the feud but Tommy Dreamer always makes me roll my eyes and it felt like a weird introduction, still, Ali vs. Santana should be great.

This was Meh.

Frankie Kazarian vs. Sami Callihan

Sami gets jumped pre-match by Mance Warner but demands the match anyway and Frankie basically immediately chokes him out. We get a brawl post-match and Sami demands a match and I mean, Sami is not any good but he lost quickly and they set up a match. I’d call it good but Sami is that bad.

This was Meh.

Leon Slater gets a hype video about teaming with the Hardyz and then JDC comes up and says that he isn’t impressed and Slater needs to show more and can’t just be a guy living off hype from veterans and needs to be his own star, Leon blows up and demands a no-DQ match as he doesn’t want to be disrespected but honestly JDC didn’t come across as that heelish and Leon demanding another match with a stipulation felt forced and Leon isn’t a natural enough promo to make it work. I guess I understand the progression but the execution was sloppy

This was Meh.

Xia Brookside vs. Cora Jade

Cora’s run in TNA continues as she has a way too long, sloppy, horrible match with Xia, who isn’t any good either. This is a really lame showing by Cora who is built up to be a challenger for Masha but it really feels like her future is on the line as she’s just dropped ball after ball in TNA. Very poor match and we should all be disappointed.

This was Bad.

Rascalz and Ace Austin have a promo and brawl with Wes Lee and Double T and Wes wins. I dunno, I’m over the Rascalz beef and Wes continues to disappoint. I guess it set up the match next week but I’m not sure why I should care.

This was Bad.

Masha Slamovich (c) vs. Savannah Evans – TNA Knockouts Championship

Masha played the overmatched babyface being swatted down by the big heel but through cunning and speed and skill was able to eventually get the giant down. One of Evans best ever singles matches as Masha has been on a roll as champion.

This was Good.

Josh Alexander vs. Eric Young -Josh’s Final TNA Match

This was SO long, so, so, so long, and yes obviously EY won. Josh probably wanted to lose to Young and I guess it sets up Eric as a future challenger for Hendry but man I have no excitement in my heart for “evil crazy Eric Young with some goons” we’ve seen it so many times. He got stabbed to death by Deaner not even 2-3 years ago and then came back with the Doctor Doom mask. We’ve seen enough Eric Young, and Josh is a guy I’ve grown to like but there was ZERO doubt about this match. Good luck to Josh in his future endeavors but man, what are we doing here?

This was Bad

Overall I still like TNA and probably always will but what a hot and cold card this one was.
