Hogan w/o Rocky

Hey Scott,
Just wondering, historically speaking, how would Hogan have done without the Rocky film? Like, in '82, Hulk was big but he wasn't iconic by any stretch.
Given Hulk's trajectory at that point, do you think he would have always continued on the line for the status he achieved or was Rocky III a necessary component?
Rocky III made him a star and gave him the connection with Sly and Mr. T that was essential for later. 100% he never makes it to the level he did without that movie.
