Worst PPV Main Events

Hi Scott,

Your Great American Bash 00 inspired me. Worst PPV main event or world title defense of the following:

Ron Simmons vs. The Barbarian

Diesel vs. Mabel

Brock Lesnar vs. Bob Holly

Any of your own where the challenger was clearly out of the champion’s league and the result was a foregone conclusion?

Bob Holly was fine. There was a story to the match, it was underneath the actual Rumble match, and there was a second World title match that was actually meaningful.

Mabel was fine as well, maybe not for Summerslam as such, but he was a credible challenger who won King of the Ring. We may not LIKE it or want to see it, but it made logical sense and the dude was 700 pounds or whatever and could reasonably be seen as a threat.

Clearly the answer here is Barbarian, who was way out of his league and in no way a threat to Ron Simmons, basically just stuck in there because they literally had no one else and didn't want to have Rick Rude do a job.

You can also argue Jinder Mahal, but then they went and put the title on him. But he would have been a strong candidate for worst ever had that not happened.
