Is Forbidden Door Necessary?
By Scott Keith on 23 June 2024
Hey Scott,
I would first like to point out: I come in peace, I want AEW to succeed to no end.
Now, since that is out of the way, is the Forbidden Door PPV really necessary? As a one off, it was a very cool concept. But, they have signed the most noteworthy free agents, there's not much build and it takes away spots from guys that are on a bloated roster. Also, it only satisfies a niche audience.
They're already building to “All In”, wouldn't it make sense to scrap “Forbidden Door” as a PPV, move “All In” (which also, seemed better served as a one off), to July, to have the “All” PPV's more than a week apart (which killed “All Out”?
I appreciate your heads up on the potential spiciness of your hot take, but I agree with it 100%. The original concept is long dead when you’ve got Shibata running around weekly TV as a cameraman. Let me offer a counter proposal: Do the Owen Hart tournament as a one night special PPV in Calgary instead.
