Jarrett as a main eventer

Scott,

Back in the late 90s was there ever a push from fans for Jeff Jarrett to be a main eventer?

I was a young wrestling nerd back then so it’s hard to remember. I do recall fans wanting to see guys like Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko get pushed more. I don’t remember the same kind of love for Jarrett. He always just screamed midcarder to me but maybe others felt differently. When he was main eventing WCW and TNA, he seemed over pushed.

The ironic thing about the 2000 push is that Jarrett repeatedly declined the World title push because he didn't want to be associated with the lowest drawing World champion of all time. So even Jarrett was fighting his own push. But no, there was absolutely no clamoring for ol' JJ to be a main eventer at any point in his run.
