Thinking LA Knight fed to Wyatt on his return or the many times Ziggler was the gatekeeper to people like Nakamura.

The perception I have as a viewer is that the gatekeeper is a glorified jobber and that their ceiling is limited. I get if a wrestler is leaving company to put someone over, but what is the long term damage? What wrestlers has this killed off and what wrestlers did this actually build up or see them recover with time?
