A little thing I miss in Wrestling
By Scott Keith on 24 May 2024
I don't know who Def Rebel is before he got hired for wwe entrance music, and I don't follow the weekly shows to have much of an opinion other than i really don't care for most of modern music anyway. But there is one thing that WWE & AEW are missing in their entrance music, and it's such a small thing that maybe the blog can help me in that i'm not catching it. When there is a celebration, and you catch the entrance music going long enough into a riff/solo.
My most cherished examples are Bret Harts theme, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Chris Benoit at WMXX. Now most of the time this even happens in the entrance itself, but I as a viewer am really not paying attention to the music by than as the wrestler is in the ring and the announcers are usually hyping the match about to happen. But after a big win, and the heroe is soaking in the victory, and the announcers are either silent or putting over the moment. And you hear that part of the song that makes you think the production crew is letting this go on longer than usual (HBK going “eat your heart out girls!” then here comes the riff!), gimme more of that good stuff! Jim Johnston knew what he was doing.
Maybe Orton's comes kiiiinda close, and all Codys has is that it just goes on loop for the crowd to sing along again. But just one of those things that's missing i feel.
