Falling into success
By Scott Keith on 22 May 2024
Given how the WWE fell ass-backwards into an insanely successful WM main event due to circumstances beyond their control (Punk's injury, the Rock shenanigans etc), what's another example of unforeseen events leading to an incredibly successful shift in strategy?
Is the uber-example the Curtain Call leading to Austin winning KOTR, or is there something else?
– Ricky Steamboat asks for time off and we get B-show headliner Honky Tonk Man for the next year and a bit as a result.
– Shawn Michaels vacates the WWF title and Steve Austin wrestles Bret Hart in his place at WM and gets turned into the biggest star in the world.
