“Stop trying to make (x) a thing…”

Hiya Scott

Hope you're well!

Just a quick question really – which characters/performers (either or both, really) in recent years have given you a really strong “Stop trying to make this a thing, it's not going to happen…” vibe?

Dexter Lumis is one that stands out for me, but I'm sure there's plenty out there!

For me it was always the Fiend. They got one good one-off out of the character with the initial squash of Finn Balor, but then it became the entire point of Bray Wyatt as a character and it just stopped being special right away and ruined it. It would be like having Doomsday show up in Superman's comics every month. Especially when he not only became a regular character on WWE TV, but then actually won the World title.

Also Dexter was a definitely a big one and he immediately got exposed as soon as he got to the main roster. This could also lead into a discussion of effective indie-level characters who got Dancin' Homer'd like Lumis or poor Adam Rose once they got to the main roster.
