So What Now?

By Scott Keith on 19 April 2024

So ratings are out for one of Dynamite's better shows and they are not great. They lost whatever fake bump they got last week promoting someone who doesn't work there anymore. The show was better than it's been in awhile, featuring all the new biggest additions to the roster in action with a fairly loaded Dynamite card, and it's does pretty much the same ratings they been doing. What do you do now if you are Tony? Judging off his comments today he thinks the All In footage was a great idea proven right by the ratings, which he said is the #1 indicator on what the fans think. Do you stay the course, even though the course really hasn't worked much the last year, regardless of backstage drama.

I think we all know Swerve is pegged for a title win this weekend, but do the ratings give you hesitation that maybe he isn't the guy? Swerve doesn't seem as hot as he did a few months ago. The last segment was the lowest rated one featuring Joe and Swerve, or at least tied with ratings killer Deonnna. It doesn't seem like interest is through the roof to see him win. Even Ospreay vs Claudio didn't make a difference, which is a bit concerning because so far Ospreay just hasn't been a draw. I feel like Tony is somewhat backed into a corner because even he has talked about the potential of Swerve becoming the first AEW African American Heavyweight Champion, kinda implying it will happen. Most thought business was bad with MJF and the devil stuff, but Tony would prob take that in a heartbeat right now.

Do you break glass and change plans, or just go with what you got? If you do change plans what would you even do? Mox is busy with New Japan, Kenny ain't coming back anytime soon, MJF either, Hangman has proven to not be the guy, Danielson is on his way to the retirement home, and not sure they have anyone to really hotshot the title on to. I really think they missed the boat to put the title on Danielson once MJF got hurt and see if he had any juice left for a final run.

You're 100% correct, it's definitely time to panic about the Swerve title reign that hasn't even started yet. Totally normal reaction.
