WWE Network question
By Scott Keith on 8 April 2024
Now with no word yet on where the Network goes after the peacock deal expires, from what i understand, the viewership numbers for older content has been on the decline. The Network has to go(sold?) to someone, And they haven't been adding much over the years, like where's my complete WCW Saturday Night Event Run?!?
My question has been for awhile now, especially during the Covid years of everyone quarantining, how come WWE never really promoted all the history the network has to offer? Why aren't there banners on weekly television informing us “On this day in History, Event X happened!”, and where we can find it!? During Codys story, where was the social media posts reminding us of Dustys world championship accomplishments and how to search for them on (ugh)Peacocks horrendous layout? They got 5 hours of tv a week, and between now and Rumble, you couldn't tell me Michael Cole & Co. couldn't give a shoutout to events and dates that the city of Philly has had over the past 40+ years?!? “Paul Heyman is getting inducted into the HOF in Philly. Did you know he was front row in 1996 to Mind Games, also in Philly? Which, btw, has an amazing match between fellow HOFers Mick Foley & Shawn Michaels!!!!”
They actually leaned into that approach a lot during the WWE 24/7 years and it didn’t work at all. I completely understand that I am part of an extreme niche audience and that’s OK.
