Most successful character reinvention ever?
By Scott Keith on 29 February 2024
When we talk about character reinventions, it's mostly when a character turns heel/face (Hulkster -> Hollywood Hogan) or when a guy straight up switches characters (Stunning Steve to Ringmaster to Stone Cold).
As far as a guy keeping the same character, but completely altering their persona, is Sting's switch from Surfer to Crow the most successful character reinvention ever?
Drawing a blank as far as who else even tried this, except for Deadman Taker to Biker Taker, but I'd hardly call that successful since he had to switch back.
Is Sting's reinvention the GOAT and if so, why?
You’re forgetting a really big one. Cena going from midcard comedy rapper to PG friendly slogan-spewing soldier carried the entire industry for a decade.
