Tag team formula (80s onwards)

When we talk about the classic 'tag team formula, is there a particular tag team, tag team rivalry or federation that really developed / crystallized the structure? I know we talk about 'playing Ricky Morton' – was it some sort of combination of Rock n Roll
/ Midnights etc?
It was around for ages beforehand. You can go back and watch matches from the 70s with the basic formula, but it was really Ricky Morton who made the long-form babyface segment into an art form. And yeah, I’d say the JCP feud with the Midnights is what took it mainstream.
