What the World Was Watching: WWF Prime Time Wrestling – August 10, 1992

Vince McMahon is in charge of the panel this evening that is composed of Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Hillbilly Jim, Bobby Heenan, and Mr. Perfect.

Nailz’s promo from Wrestling Challenge two weeks ago airs.

The Big Bossman’s squash from Wrestling Challenge is shown.

Gene Okerlund’s interview with the Ultimate Warrior from Superstars is shown.

McMahon asks Perfect about who’s corner he will be in. All Perfect says is that he will be a rich man soon.

El Matador (24-2-1) pins Mike Sharpe after El Paso del Muerte at 3:33:

Sharpe takes El Matador to the buckles a few times before El Matador blocks it, works a front facelock, and then uses a knee lift to set up another squash victory.

WWF Tag Team Champions the Natural Disasters’ squash from Superstars is shown.

Duggan asks Perfect how he got Randy Savage’s number and McMahon asks whether the Ultimate Warrior got in touch with him. Perfect refuses to answer those questions.

SummerSlam promo time with Sean Mooney! Before we get promos, Jamison interrupts to bring Mooney a plant in a cup. The British Bulldog repeats how his family and Bret’s will reunite after SummerSlam. Heenan also interrupts the segment, asking Mooney if he has the same tailor as Jamison. Mooney asks what Ric Flair is up to and Heenan alludes to Flair spending his recent evenings with beautiful women. Perfect again defers on who he will be managing in the WWF title match.

Okerlund does the SummerSlam Report.

The Berzerker’s squash from Superstars airs.

Duggan says that even though Tatanka is giving away size to the Berzerker, his heart will make him a winner at SummerSlam. Heenan talks about the opening night of the Summer Olympics and how the archer who shot fire into the Olympic cauldron was a guy named Dennis Feldman, who is an uncle of Tatanka and scalps tickets for the Cleveland Indians.

More SummerSlam promos with Mooney! Virgil recaps what Nailz did to the Big Bossman and he vows to be a carpenter to drive Nailz into the floor. Heenan interrupts for the second time, saying that Nailz only spent a weekend in jail.

The British Bulldog (22-0) defeats Repo Man (20-4) after the running powerslam at 6:38:

This bout took place in Worcester, Massachusetts on July 20. It is a rare televised clash of feuding parties where each man loves going to the eyes. Repo chokes a lot until the Bulldog schoolboys him out of nowhere for two and then just picks Repo Man up and powerslams him to win their feud in a terrible match. Rating: ½*

Razor Ramon’s squash from Wrestling Challenge is shown.

Sergeant Slaughter joins the broadcast from WTAT in Charleston, South Carolina. Slaughter talks of his desire to put Heenan and Perfect through military training. Perfect responds that he would love to slap the mustache off Slaughter’s face. Duggan invites Slaughter to be a panelist on next week’s program after Heenan says he would love to talk down to Slaughter if he was to join the show. Slaughter accepts the invitation.

The Undertaker (w/Paul Bearer) (20-0) pins Duane Gill after the Tombstone at 2:48:

Gill must have escaped a body bag to get another crack at the Undertaker on tonight’s program. Gorilla Monsoon and Lord Alfred Hayes do not have much faith in Kamala’s chances against the Undertaker at SummerSlam. Gill fails in his second outing against the Undertaker, mounting no offense in close to three minutes of action.

A replay of Helen Hart’s comments on Wrestling Challenge about the SummerSlam Intercontinental title match air.

The Bushwhackers brief match with the Nasty Boys from Wrestling Challenge is shown.

McMahon puts over how a feature on the next Body Stars show will be about the Los Angeles Raiders Raiderettes cheerleading team.

Shawn Michaels’ squash from Wrestling Challenge airs.

Duggan and Jim are convinced that Sensational Sherri might be infatuated with Rick Martel. Heenan does not believe that because she is in love with Shawn Michaels and women wink at anyone. Duggan has a funny comeback about he does not know what kind of female company female keeps that wink at any man they see.

A final round of SummerSlam promos with Mooney. Crush says he wants Repo Man to stay up all night coming up with ways to beat him because none of them will work. Heenan says he saw an English newspaper that said Mooney was having a romantic relationship with Sensational Sherri. He does not have the publication, though, because he used it to throw out a bird.

Okerlund interviews Money Incorporated and Jimmy Hart. Hart claims that his team lost their tag team titles because Irwin R. Schyster was in the hospital with a 100-degree temperature and Ted DiBiase had spinal meningitis. He promises the Natural Disasters that they will not tag team champions for long. IRS says that no one steals from Money Incorporated. When it comes to SummerSlam, DiBiase notes that the Legion of Doom are some of the strongest men in the WWF but Money Incorporated ended their undefeated run and they will put them back in their place at Wembley Stadium.

Jamison brings Heenan a pizza and sneezes on it. The pizza with anchovies and earthworms makes Heenan want to vomit.

The Last Word: After a decent string of episodes, this Prime Time was terrible with a bad feature match and talking segments that went nowhere. What hurts the panel discussion is that Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Hillbilly Jim do not have good chemistry with Bobby Heenan.
