I'm watching one of the old school house shows on the WWE Network and come across a match with Curt Henning against S.D. Jones. This is pre-Perfect, so I'm expecting some prelim competitive stuff, but even with those low expectations, I'm amazed at how little Jones does to make Hennig look good. He takes most of the offense, when he's selling its 90% doubled-over in pain like he has a stomachache, and the last 2-minutes he's doing everything with such half-hearted effort it's a joke. Then it got me thinking that this was pretty much the norm if Jones was working the houses (at least when it comes to the mid-late 80's). We get the occasional “who was the best enhancement talent” emails, but how about some of the worst? I don't mean a one-and-done guy, though it's fun to acknowledge those as well. Who are some of the worst that stuck around? Obviously, I'm throwing S.D.'s name out there, but honorable mention to Buddy Lee Parker.
Buddy was definitely not good, and not only that, he actually trained guys afterwards. I'm going to throw Jim Powers on the pile, because he had the steroid look and a good powerslam and NOTHING else in the ring.
