Howdy!
Yes it’s me and despite attempts to imitate, there’s only one official Monday Night Thread on this blog ;).
RAW has it’s go home show tonight for Summerslam so expect more words from Lashley and Goldberg in a match that no one really wants to see. I do, however, want to check out Lashley’s interview with Austin on the Network so I might watch a little of that before 8.
AEW High Elevation is streaming.
I had to fly back from the Midwest today and listened to the “Crime in Sports” podcast episode on New Jack, it’s old but it was pretty damn entertaining. I listened to Cornette’s podcast on Beautiful Bobby on the way to Chicago and…the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes are hard because Cornette was obviously so torn up. But the 90 or so minutes of stories is really good and some are quite funny.
Beautiful Bobby Eaton will always be one of those talents that was never in a spot to be truly appreciated for how good he was. He’s one of those “your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler” types. But as someone who watched him in Mid South, World Class and Crockett, he always looked too decent of a person to be a heel and in life he was. I loved the simplicity of his face turn in 1988 when the Midnights are chasing Arn and Tully and the Horsemen are busting on him during an episode of World Wide when Eaton finally snaps and talks back, mostly calling Tully a piece of trash over and over again. He was never much of a promo, but that was a fun mark-out moment. So again, RIP to an entertaining performer and by all accounts a good man that was loved and respected by his peers. Matter of fact. I’m going to link that podcast here.
Also a late RIP to the Assassin Jody Hamilton, who COULD cut a promo and scare the daylights out of a young fan.
Keep it Clean.
