We can’t get a hold of Gorilla and Heenan; every time we try to patch them in the audio gets replaced with a Mark Jindrak match. So I’ll take over.
The card for the first AEW Elevation is mostly released, and it appears we’re getting a lot of matches that on Dark would be Feature Bouts. Five matches were announced: Riho vs Maki Itoh (the main event), Jungle Boy vs Danny Limelight (taped before Dynamite instead of after), Tay Conti vs Ashley Vox, Daunte Martin of Top Flight vs Max Caster of The Acclaimed, and Brandon Cutler vs Powerhouse Hobbs. Even if Elevation is just another Dark show, I’m in.
Tough luck for my boys on the Duke men’s team. A Covid case, likely contracted from a walk-on who was forced to room with a person who went off-campus for a frat rush, has made them withdraw from the ACC tournament, and given the lack of practice time and chemistry left them 13-11 this year, the run of 25 straight Big Dances is going to end. Laugh all you want at Coach K and the Default Final Boss missing the tourney — I’ll be over here very angry at the Greek chapters at Duke because they basically have become super-spreaders. And if you’re wondering, well why didn’t Duke stop them from rushing? They tried. They said no rushes in 2020-21 due to Covid, and the frats responded by renouncing their affiliation with the school and moving off-campus to set up their own rules. You can’t fix stupid sometimes.
Much love and condolences to Becky Lynch, whose father died today.
Our feature bout is up next, as we go back to Ontario. Indie veteran Rickey Shane Page squares off against the conniving MJF.
Bring the insanity.
