How should WM IX have ended

According to the Yokozuna WWE documentary, he was originally going to leave WM IX with the belt before the Hogan decision was made that weekend. Would having a heel cheat and win the belt really have been the way to go, since WWE had never ended a Wrestlemania
that way? Would anyone else saving the day besides Hogan have worked better?
It at least would have let Yoko look like a more suitable champion to win at Wrestlemania and start his title reign there rather than waiting for King of the Ring. I'm assuming that had he won there, KOTR would have featured him defending against Hacksaw? I've still gotta watch that documentary, although now they've got the Best of APA collection on there and obviously THAT'S a must watch first. Cough.
