Oklahoma question

Hey Scott, hope you have a happy and healthy New Year and that it's better than what 2020 brought us. Sorry if you've covered this before, but I wasn't the biggest WCW guy and I've been going through the old pay-per-views due to work from home life. At '99, there was a backstage segment with Ed Ferrara as Oklahoma and Dr. Death, which I've heard of before but I always wondered something. I thought Steve Williams was close with Jim Ross, so why did he go along with such a tasteless joke? Was there some sort of beef after how his WWF run turned out in '98? Thanks.
I’m guessing that it was mostly about the money. I don’t recall JR saying there was any bad blood in his book.
