Why “Because WCW?”

We say “because WCW” because it's an easy answer…but why?
What was it about this southern-based territory that made them make chronically bad booking and business decisions against multiple eras, management regimes, and even ownership? Hell, even Vince McMahon failed with WCW. What gives?

I think that it was mostly because the company was owned by a TV station who were solely concerned with the bottom line and not any kind artistic integrity for the product. Say what you will about Vince but he spent years as a hyper-perfectionist towards his business. I don’t think anyone in charge of WCW ever had that kind of vision or drive.
