Mr. JL?

Hey Scott,
What was the deal with Mr. JL? Nobody knew the name Jerry Lynn in 1995. Mr JL would have no significance to anyone much less a common fan. If you’re going to be that lazy, why not just call him Jerry Lynn? Is this a whole “because WCW”?
Perhaps Lynn wanted to make sure they didn't own his name? I got nothing beyond “Because WCW”.
