What was the kayfabe reason The Animal was in Steamboat’s corner at Wrestlemania 3? Seems odd the babyface needs someone in his corner when the opposing side has Elizabeth.
Because Savage had continually screwed over Animal, and Ricky Steamboat was his best friend and Steele wanted to make sure that Savage wasn't able to use the ringbell and hurt him again. So even though he couldn't win the title himself because he was outsmarted by Savage at every turn, he was at least able to outsmart Savage ONE time and distract him by stealing the ringbell, not only saving Steamboat but allowing him to win the title to give both guys their revenge.
Wrestlemania 3 was pretty awesome.
