Indies and Insanity: February 28, 2019

28th February 2019 by Andy PG
Rants

You know, with 330 million dollars, Bryce Harper should just buy the Phillies. And 13 years? Yeah, that contract won’t be a huge albatross down the line or anything.

…still better than the Bonilla contract. Sigh.

Also, Ronda Rousey’s Twitter game is ecch.

AS FOR TONIGHT, if you’re a basketball fan let’s look at the games. TNT’s NBA doubleheader is Sixers/Thunder, followed by Jazz/Nuggets. ESPN opens with Nebraska/Michigan, then gives us USC/UCLA (Bill Walton alert!). Three for the show on ESPN2, as we get UCONN/Wichita, Minnesota/Northwestern, and #1 Gonzaga/Pacific. ESPNU starts late with Tulane/Tulsa, then gives us UC Irvine/UC Davis as the Deep Cut Of The Week.

But what of wrestling, you ask? It’s time for the Indie Roundup after the jump!

So let’s see what big wrestling is going on this weekend, shall we?

  • CMLL Super Viernes kicks off the weekend. Your main event is Angel de Oro, Niebla Roja, and Volador Jr facing Los Ingobernables, while your Lightning match this week is Templario vs. Titan.
  • Friday night in California, PWG celebrates their milestone 200th show! (Wild applause) Jeff Cobb puts the big gold on the line against Bandido! LAX, the Lucha Bros, and the Rascalz battle for the tag gold! Jonathan Gresham faces David Starr! Brody King tries to kill Darby Allin! It’s loaded!
  • Saturday night in Voorhees, it’s CZW putting on their Trifecta Elimination show! The deal is that nine young guns will face off in a triple threat tournament, with the winner getting a wild card spot in Best of the Best. The undercard features Anthony Greene facing Jimmy Rave, Jordynne Grace against Kris Statlander, and Matt Tremont going deathmatch against Conor Claxton.
  • MLW will tape some TV on Saturday night in Chicago at Intimidation Games. The highlight is Low-Ki getting his rematch against Tom Lawlor for the MLW Title, while the Harts defend the tag belts against MJF and Richard Holliday. Oh, and if you love violence, Mance Warner takes on LA Park.
  • Spotlight this week on FIP, who on Sunday night will be holding Ascension in Ybor City. Your main event as of now is Odinson/Parrow defending the tag gold against Chance Auren and Omar Amir. The highest profile match for those not FIP followers, though, is probably Revolt! taking on the Ugly Ducklings.
  • RPW is Live At The Cockpit on Sunday. The best announced match (they haven’t announced much, mind you) goes to Chris Brookes facing Darius Lockhart (a hidden gem if ever there was one), while we know David Starr and Zack Sabre Jr. will be in action.
  • Southern Underground Pro returns on Sunday with What Could Possibly Go Right, and a lot of people who work NOVA will be in action here. Matches I’m looking forward to hearing about include Kerry Awful vs Steve Manders, Cabana Man Dan vs Dominic Garrini, and Allie Kat vs Kevin Ku — I’ve seen all of these individuals live and they’re all fun. Your main event, though, is Brett Ison defending the big gold against O’Shay Edwards.

Your Indie Viewing of the Week comes to us from… Southside Wrestling in the UK. And it’s a doozy, as DJ Z faces Sammy Guevara!

Bring the insanity!
