Pissing On A Match Stipulation

By Scott Keith on 20 December 2018

What was the most egregious example of a pro wrestling company pissing on an outcome of a match stipulation? The most recent one that I can think of is the WWE Survivor Series 2014 Elimination tag team match in which the Authority "would be gone forever" if John Cena's team won. As you may remember Cena's team won, and it was all of 6 weeks before the Authority was brought back due to some kind of storyline loophole bullshit, rendering the whole stip worthless.

That's the one I would have chosen. There was also "John Cena is fired" at Survivor Series 2010, which not only had people invested but actually drew a buyrate thanks to a Roddy Piper promo, and then that lasted, what, a week? They've actually been getting really bad about it lately, in fact. Remember when Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn lost at Wrestlemania this year and were fired?
