–Vince McMahon recaps how Shawn Michaels and Jeff Jarrett had an altercation at the end of last week’s show after Jarrett defended the Intercontinental title against Savio Vega.
–Sid and Bam Bam Bigelow cut promos against each other for tonight’s feature match. Sid promises to give Bigelow a Ph.D. in pain, while Bigelow promises to set Sid on fire, with a fireball included as part of the promo.
–McMahon and Jerry Lawler, who is guzzling what is supposed to be mouth wash, are doing commentary and they are still in Danville, Pennsylvania.
–Opening Contest: The 1-2-3 Kid (5-1) beats Mike Bell with a side roll up at 3:00:
Bell nearly gets the win with a powerslam as McMahon makes fun of Lawler’s bad breath and loss to Bret Hart at King of the Ring, but the Kid puts Bell on dream street with a martial arts kick in the corner and follows with a spinning heel kick, dazing Bell enough to cradle him and get the victory.
–Todd Pettengill provides the In Your House 2 Report. Sid’s lumberjacks are announced as being the Blu Brothers, Mabel, IRS, and Kama, while Diesel has Adam Bomb, Savio Vega, Razor Ramon, and the Smoking Gunns. More names for the lumberjacks are set to be released later. In addition to the WWF title match, Jeff Jarrett will defend the Intercontinental title against Shawn Michaels, with Jarrett set to do a live musical performance at the show. Furthermore, Owen Hart and Yokozuna will defend the WWF tag team titles against the Allied Powers and the Roadie will face the 1-2-3 Kid.
–McMahon and Lawler hype Jarrett’s new single “With My Baby Tonight” and the music video is played thereafter.
–Call 1-900-737-4WWF to hear who Ted DiBiase is calling to be in Sid’s corner as a lumberjack at In Your House!
–Bob Holly (8-7-1) pins The Brooklyn Brawler after the Pit Stop Plunge at 2:54:
McMahon puts over Holly’s performance at The King of the Ring despite the fact that Holly lost his first round match against the Roadie. Holly runs through some basic offense, nearly pinning the Brawler with a dropkick, but it is the Pit Stop Plunge that gets the win on this week’s show.
–McMahon and Lawler recap how Henry Godwinn slopped Adam Bomb after their brief match on Superstars.
–Henry Godwinn (13-4-2) defeats Barry Horowitz after a Slop Drop at 2:58:
Having Godwinn drink his slop and/or dump it on people was disgusting but at least it added a dimension to his character that went further than “wrestler who is a hog farmer and rolls people around the ring like they are hogs.” McMahon puts over Horowitz’s fighting spirit as the crowd reacts well to him, but Horowitz misses a dropkick when he tries a comeback and the Slop Drop puts him down for the count yet again.
–Barry Didinski urges fans to call 1-800-TITAN-91 to buy a Shawn Michaels, Bam Bam Bigelow, or Adam Bomb t-shirt. These shirts can yours for $20 each (plus shipping & handling)! The disinterested fans standing in the aisle wearing these gaudy shirts is not a great way to get the audience to buy them.
–Henry Godwinn stays at ringside for Sid’s entrance and DiBiase nods his head toward Godwinn, which Godwinn takes as some kind of signal to do something. During Bam Bam Bigelow’s entrance Godwinn refuses to let Bigelow pass and a shoving match and fight between the two erupts, causing WWF officials to separate both men.
–Sid (w/Ted DiBiase) (3-1) beats Bam Bam Bigelow (11-2) after Henry Godwinn tosses Bigelow off the top rope at 5:40 shown:
Neither man can really afford to lose this match because Sid is programmed into a top tier feud with Diesel and Bigelow is still in the early stages of a new push as a face. Bigelow is protected throughout the bout, with the Godwinn altercation before the match touted as a distraction and DiBiase interferes multiple times to keep Bigelow from turning the tide of the match in his favor. And then when Bigelow goes for his trademark flying headbutt after backdropping out of a powerbomb, Godwinn runs out and pushes him off the rope rope, allowing Sid to get the victory. This was a poor match but the crowd was into it. Rating: ½*
–After the bout, Sid gives Bigelow a sloppy powerbomb and the crowd chants for Diesel but the WWF Champion fails to make an appearance.
–McMahon puts over the WWF’s participation at the Special Olympics in New Haven, Connecticut.
–Waylon Mercy (1-0) defeats Jeff Hardy via submission to a sleeper hold at 2:58:
Mercy and Jeff are both wearing white tights and they sort of blend into the ring because of the WWF’s red-white-blue rope look during this period. McMahon announces that Henry Godwinn is going to take King Kong Bundy’s place in a tag team match on next week’s show because Godwinn is trying to get in the good graces of the Million Dollar Corporation. Mercy beats Jeff from pillar to post, giving the young North Carolinian a devastating brainbuster and locking in a sleeper hold for his second win of the year. One of the great things about Mercy is the facial expression that he has when he applies his finisher, which really puts over the psychotic nature of the character.
–Footage of Lawler talking to patients at Isaac Yankem’s dentist office earlier in the day is shown. He rants about how Yankem is going to make Bret Hart pay the price in the WWF. The real MVP of the segment is a young kid with glasses, who really puts over Lawler’s promo with his facial expressions, and at the end of the vignette we see Isaac Yankem, who was Unabomb in Smoky Mountain Wrestling.
–Tune in next week to see the Allied Powers face Henry Godwinn & Tatanka! Also, Savio Vega and the Roadie will be in action!
The Last Word: Bam Bam Bigelow’s loss on this show signaled that he was going to be pushed down the card since a feud with Henry Godwinn was not going to be occupying top billing on cards across the country. The company really seems to be running on fumes right now, with many of the existing feuds either stale (Sid-Diesel) or becoming more ridiculous by the week (Bret-Lawler).
