–Vince McMahon recaps the “kiss my foot” match that took place at The King of the Ring. It is a great exercise in McMahon overselling something as he narrates all the events with a sense of urgency as if the match is unfolding again.
–McMahon and Shawn Michaels are doing commentary and they are live from Danville, Pennsylvania. Lawler is not present because he is still recovering from the ill-effects of the King of the Ring. According to historyofwwe.com the show drew a sellout crowd of 2,700.
–Opening Contest: The Smoking Gunns (13-2-1) beat The Black Phantom & Jason Arhndt after Billy pins Arndt after a Sidewinder at 1:39:
It is during this match that McMahon shocks viewers who did not see the pay-per-view by saying that Mabel won the King of the Ring Tournament. The Gunns do not take a lot of time beating the future Gangrel and Joey Abs on tonight’s show,
–Jerry Lawler is shown earlier today at his dentist office, with the dentist named Isaac Yankem, D.D.S. He says Yankem had to work on his mouth for an hour to deal with the effects of The King of the Ring and he says that Yankem is going to extract revenge because Yankem used to be “the world’s greatest wrestler” before he became a dentist.
–McMahon recounts how Savio Vega debuted at In Your House a little more than a month ago.
–Barry Didinski urges fans to call 1-800-TITAN-91 to get a King of the Ring t-shirt and hat. He also urges fans to call to get some Bret Hart sunglasses and a hat. The funniest part is he asks a fan if The King of the Ring was great and the fan is unresponsive.
–Skip (w/Sunny) (4-0) pins Scott Taylor after a super hurricanrana at 2:10:
After facing “not Scott Taylor” on Superstars Skip faces the real deal on tonight’s show. Sunny continues her talent of playing to the camera as Skip tries to get more attention on himself by slamming Taylor on the floor and delivering a flying knee drop to the outside. Michaels and the crowd are impressed with Skip’s hurricanrana as the newly debuted heel does pushups on Taylor during the winning pin.
–WWF Champion Diesel participated in a celebrity softball game over the weekend in Oklahoma City as part of a fundraiser for children who lost their parents in the Oklahoma City terrorist attack.
–Todd Pettengill does his best with a straight face to put over how great The King of the Ring pay-per-view was, recapping some of its major events. He then announces that at In Your House 2 that Diesel will defend the WWF title against Sid in a lumberjack match to keep Sid from leaving the ring.
–Savio Vega says that Jeff Jarrett is a tough guy but he is going to beat him and bring the Intercontinental title back to all of his Latin American friends.
–Call 1-900-737-4WWF to hear Jim Ross’s update on the condition of Razor Ramon.
–Man Mountain Rock (12-0) beat Phil Apollo via submission to the Whammy Bar at 1:18:
Rock gets a nice ovation for his music but the crowd is relatively silent for his in-ring work. As per usual, he finishes his enhancement-level opponent in less than two minutes.
–King Mabel (w/Sir Mo) (7-1) pins Kenny Kendall after a belly-to-belly suplex at 2:32:
As part of his newly won king gimmick, Mabel is carried to the ring on a throne, with the jobbers carrying it clearly struggling with the weight. In retrospect, Mabel winning The King of the Ring was obvious all along since his ring attire was composed of the royal colors of purple and gold. Michaels says that he did not win the King of the Ring because he did not read the rulebook and realize that a fifteen-minute time limit existed for the matches. Mabel makes Kendall a ragdoll, throwing him everywhere before crushing him with a belly-to-belly suplex.
–Waylon Mercy’s new vignette sees him on a lifeguard stand at the beach. He says just like being a lifeguard he will be supervising the other WWF talents and they will be dependent on what he wants to do to them or for them.
–Pettengill recaps the WWF Hall of Fame ceremony.

–Intercontinental Championship Match: Savio Vega (7-1) beats Jeff Jarrett (Champion) (w/The Roadie) (13-6-1) via disqualification when the Roadie interferes at 5:28 shown:
Savio, the Puerto Rican underdog, is soundly booed when he comes out but McMahon still puts him over as a hero for winning three matches at last night’s King of the Ring. Michaels gets under the Roadie’s skin by pulling his hair when the Roadie lands on the announce table after trying to interfere, with Michaels saying that he just wants to see if the Roadie’s hair is real. This becomes an issue later in the bout when Savio knocks the Roadie back into the announce table and Michaels and the Roadie tease a fight. This causes Jarrett to try to attack Michaels but Michaels turns the tables and that distraction nearly allows Savio to roll up Jarrett and win the title, but the Roadie interferes for the disqualification. As this summary attests, the matchup between Jarrett and Savio was just going through the motions and the real issue was what was unfolding outside the ring. Rating: *½
–After the bell, Michaels makes the save to clear the ring and immediately shines as he runs all over the ring and sends Jarrett flying after a flying forearm.
–In footage that will be shown in numerous video packages for the next couple of years, Michaels takes his shirt off and dances on top of the commentary table. The female fans love it but male fans are shown on the screen and are relatively stoic. Right before the show goes off the air Jarrett and the Roadie come back into the ring but the broadcast ends before we find out what they want to say.
–Tune in next week to see Bam Bam Bigelow square off against Sid! Also, Waylon Mercy makes his RAW debut and the 1-2-3 Kid returns to action!
The Last Word: The last segment shows that Jarrett is about to feud with Michaels, a welcome change of pace because Jarrett is nowhere near Michaels level and the Intercontinental title will probably change hands. In that case it seems like Michaels would feud with Sid, who will be wrapping up his feud with Diesel in the near future, since they have an unresolved issue. And next week’s main event is basically a referendum on Bigelow’s babyface push as a loss would stop his momentum cold and send a clear signal that he is moving down the card.
